"Good Neighbors Sri Lanka (GNSL), a member of Good Neighbors International, has been serving vulnerable communities since 2008. As of 2025, GNSL proudly operates across all 25 districts of Sri Lanka, achieving national coverage through its development and humanitarian programs. This marks a major milestone in GNSL’s commitment to building a better future through sustainable, community-led development. GNSL addresses the root causes of poverty and inequality by focusing on education, child protection, health and nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), economic empowerment, and emergency response. Programs are designed with local needs in mind, ensuring lasting impact and community ownership. Through its Child Sponsorship Program, GNSL provides educational and psychosocial support to underprivileged children and their families. Health programs include mobile clinics, first-aid training, and menstrual hygiene support, while nutrition efforts target malnourished children and pregnant women. WASH projects improve sanitation facilities and promote hygiene behavior, especially in drought-prone and estate communities. Economic empowerment programs offer skills training, start-up support, and entrepreneurship guidance for women and youth. Women's groups strengthen resilience and leadership, with GBV prevention integrated into activities. GNSL responds to natural disasters with relief and preparedness training. Youth clubs promote civic responsibility, leadership, and creativity. Strong partnerships with communities, local authorities, and global donors drive sustainability. Good Neighbours Sri Lanka recently conducted an support program in the Trincomalee district, providing essential learning materials to 𝟲𝟭𝟱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.🌱

In March 2025, Good Neighbors Sri Lanka launched a 𝟰-𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗮𝘀𝘄𝗲𝘄𝗮 to empower school leavers and youth pursuing higher education with practical and theoretical knowledge. 💻📚✨

The program bridges gaps by offering 3 days of ICT training and 1 day of English language improvement each week, addressing the lack of access to structured learning opportunities in the area.

Guided by experienced instructors, the initiative has benefited 38 students — 23 in the computer program and 15 in the English program — while also providing lunch, snacks, and space for recreational activities like carrom and dam to foster a friendly learning environment.

The journey culminated in a certificate awarding ceremony on 7th August 2025, celebrating the dedication and of our participants.

🎓 Celebrating 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 & 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 at Karuwalagaswewa!

On 7th August 2025, we proudly hosted the Certificate Awarding Ceremony at the Good Neighbors Sri Lanka Community Development Programme - Karuwalagaswewa, marking the completion of our 4-month Computer and 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

We were honored by the presence of our invited guests:
✅ General Manager – Good Neighbors Sri Lanka
✅ Divisional Secretary – Karuwalagaswewa
✅ NGO Coordinator – Puttalam District
— who had the privilege of awarding certificates to the participating youth.

📘 15 students enhanced their English communication through interactive weekly sessions.
💻 23 students received both theoretical and hands-on ICT training, conducted three days per week.
🎯 This program was designed to empower school leavers and youth preparing for higher education with essential academic and career-focused skills.

Training was delivered through the Good Neighbors Sri Lanka Community Development Programme – Karuwalagaswewa, providing participants with valuable knowledge and real-world experience in a and inclusive environment.

In May 2025, Good Neighbors Sri Lanka introduced a weekly 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 in Karuwalagaswewa to empower 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝟲–𝟭𝟮 with better access to music education. 🎶✨
The class addresses challenges such as the unavailability of instruments and limited school-time practice, especially for those preparing for music exams.

Led by a 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, the program currently benefits 𝟮𝟵 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 and will run weekly for six months.

We also provide snacks during the session to ensure a relaxed and encouraging learning space.

We were honored to welcome an esteemed delegation from the Good Neighbors West Asia Regional Coordination Office (WARO) —𝗠𝗿.𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗦𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗡 (Regional Coordinator, WARO) 𝗠𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽 𝗚𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗮 (General Manager, WARO) 𝗠𝘀. 𝗛𝘆𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗲 𝗬𝘂 (Chief Manager, Resource Development Division, WARO)

Their official visit to the 𝗞𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗦𝗿𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗮 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 marked a significant step in enhancing regional collaboration and shaping the of community development efforts in Sri Lanka.

In Karuwalagaswewa, Puttalam, where child malnutrition remains a major concern, Good Neighbors Sri Lanka is making a meaningful impact. Through our Community Development Project, we’re providing daily nutritious breakfasts to 30 children with disabilities at the Skills Development Centre – Palugaswewa. 🌾

This initiative, launched in 2024, is a collaborative effort between:

In May 2025, Good Neighbors Sri Lanka launched a weekly 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 in Karuwalagaswewa for 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝟲 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟮. The class was introduced to address faced by students due to the lack of musical instruments and limited time for practice during school hours, especially when preparing for music examinations.

Currently, 𝟮𝟵 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀, which is conducted once a week by a skilled 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. The class will run for six months, with snacks provided to create a comfortable and engaging environment.

This initiative aims to build students' and enhance their practical skills in singing and playing musical instruments. 🎶🎹🎤
