තුවාල සුව වීම යනු ශරීරයේ පටක හානියකට ප්‍රතිචාරයක් ලෙස සිදුවන ස්වභාවික ප්‍රතික‍රියාවකි. මෙය පියවර කිහිපයකින් සමන්විත වේ:

1. රක්තස්‍රාව නවත්වීම (Hemostasis): තුවාලයෙහි රුධිරය නවතින පියවරයයි. රුධිරයේ පිඹුණුකම් (platelets) හා රුධිර කැටි සෑදීමක් සිදු වේ.

2. ආසාත්මික ප්‍රතිචාරය (Inflammation): සජීවීණුන්වලින් ආරක්ෂාව සඳහා සුළු ආසාත්මික ප්‍රතිචාරයක් සිදුවේ. මෙහිදී කේන්ද්‍රය රතු, උණ සහ වේදනාවෙන් පිරේ.
