“An year of reminiscence in PeMSAA - 2025”

The PeMSAA UK Annual Ball and Prof Varagunam memorial lecture 2025

It was an honour for the President of PeMSAA, Prof. Indu Nanayakkara, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Saman Nanayakkara, to grace this prestigious event at the invitation of PeMSAA UK. Their presence marked a meaningful occasion in strengthening the enduring bonds and collaboration between PeMSAA and its UK chapter. It was held at the stunning Shendish Manor Hotel, Hemel Hampstead, UK.

The Annual General Meeting of PeMSAA for the year was held on 20th of March, 2026 at the newly refurbished board room of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, under the chair of the PeMSAA President, Professor Indu Nanayakkara, the Secretary, Dr Gayana Amiyangoda and the Treasurer, Dr Pathum Dissanayake. This happened to be the inaugural meeting held at the faculty board room, which was refurbished through the generous contributions of our alumni from around the world.

With the invaluable contributions from the membership of PeMSAA, the following new constructions were added to the faculty premises carrying the faculty to new heights. The album consists of these additions, last of which was added recently.

“An year of reminiscence in PeMSAA”
Regional meeting of PeMSAA in collaboration with the Nawalapitiya Clinical Society was successfully held at the Eye Auditorium, District General Hospital, Nawalapitiya on 27th August 2025. The meeting was held under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Saman Nanayakkara, who attended as the chief guest. Discussions focused on advancements in clinical practice and fostering stronger community health initiatives. The resource persons of the event were Dr Janaka Somarathne (Director, District General Hospital, Nawalapitiya), Dr. Chathurika Dandeniya (Senior Lecturer & Consultant Rheumatologist), Dr. Shreeni Godevithanage (Consultant Neurologist), Dr. Madhuranga Jayasundara (Consultant Gynecologist & Obstetrician), Dr. Shanika Ekanayake (Consultant Psychiatrist), Dr. K Kandeepan (Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon), and Prof. Pathum Dissanayake (Professor in Pediatrics).
