4 Atmosphere
If you dreamed of feeling the indescribable spirit of free travelers and surfers, this is the place for you! The first tourists reached Arugam Bay in 1975 and they were French surfers. Since that time, only real surfers in pursuit of one of the longest right-hand waves in the world made their way to the village across the island. This has greatly influenced the development of tourism in Arugam Bay. Until recently, there were no 5 * hotels with swimming pools, bungalows on trees, cabanas from palm leaves, etc. were built here. Of course, the years go by and development does not stand still, comfortable housing, mini hotels, guesthouses, shops and cafes appeared in the village, but so far this place is very popular only in surfer circles.
