Breaking news! πŸ—žοΈ

The Liberian government is gearing up to receive a shipment of yellow machines and other earth-moving equipment, with the fleet expected to be shipped by January 20 and arrive in the country by March 30. Minister of Information Jerolinmek Piah announced that 25% of the payment has been made from the National Road Fund, and arrangements for the remaining 75% are being finalized through UBA Bank.

The government has also secured additional equipment, including 20 buses and 244 containers of spare parts for the yellow machines, all provided free of charge. The shipment is expected to take 70 days to arrive, a bit longer than the usual 45 days.

Deployment of the equipment is set to begin during the president's planned county tour, aiming to boost infrastructure development across the country.

Some of the African countries affected include Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, Senegal, and Zambia, among others. The U.S. State Department cites inadequate vetting, high visa overstay rates, and countries' refusal to accept deportees as reasons for these restrictions.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah says he's done with George Weah and the CDC. He's now all about backing President Joseph Boakai. In a chat with ELBC, Fallah made it clear he'd support anyone Boakai endorses, even if he's not in the race. He's reflecting on his time with the CDC, remembering how he campaigned hard for Weah, putting the party ahead of himself. Fallah was kicked out of the CDC in 2024 after backing Speaker Richard Koon in a leadership tussle.
