On this May 12, 2025, Accelerative Resource for Innovative Solutions (ARIS) Inc. proudly joins the global community in honoring the incredible contributions of nurses on International Nurses Day. Under this year’s powerful theme, “The Power of Nurses,” we salute every nurse in Liberia and beyond for their strength, sacrifice, and enduring impact on health and humanity.

Nurses are the cornerstone of Liberia’s healthcare system. They are often the first and sometimes the only point of contact for patients, especially in rural and underserved areas. Whether responding to emergencies, delivering babies, supporting mental health, or leading community outreach programs, nurses demonstrate exceptional power through compassion, expertise, and resilience. Their influence reaches beyond the bedside and into the heart of our nation’s health.

Yet, despite their critical role, nurses in Liberia face a multitude of challenges. Chronic shortages of staff, inadequate pay, lack of essential supplies, outdated infrastructure, and limited access to continued professional development hinder their ability to deliver the quality of care they are trained and willing to provide. The weight of these burdens is compounded by emotional stress and, at times, a lack of recognition for their tireless efforts.

At ARIS Inc., we recognize these challenges and stand firmly with the nursing community in addressing them. Through our capacity-building programs and health training initiatives, we aim to empower nurses with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to lead effectively and care compassionately. We believe that unlocking “the power of nurses” means investing in their education, well-being, and leadership potential.

Today, as we celebrate the nursing profession, we also call on government leaders, healthcare institutions, and development partners to prioritize the needs of nurses in national health strategies. It is time to ensure that nurses are not just seen as caregivers, but also as policymakers, educators, and innovators shaping the future of healthcare in Liberia. Their power must be recognized, respected, and resourced.
