TNIMA HOLDS AN ACCEPTANCE, PINNING, AND CAPPING PROGRAM FOR ITS FRESHMAN STUDENTS
The Tubman National Institution of Medical Arts, TNIMA on Friday, May 19, 2023, held a capping and pinning program in the John F. Kennedy Memorial lobby for two hundred and six freshman students who have qualified to continue studying medicine.
Mrs. Sarah G.B. Kollie, the administrator of TNIMA has said there were two hundred and twenty-four students who passed last year’s entrant exams and were accepted by the school but after first-semester evaluation, eighteen of those students didn’t qualify to continue studying at the institution.
Meanwhile, the inspirational speaker of the dynamic program, Mrs. Cecelia Teweah Cephas who is a graduate of the Mother Pattern School of Medicine and also a nursing directress of the Out Patient Department at JFK medical center has said receiving the Cap and Pin means students are now beginning to start discovering themselves as future medical practitioners.
Mrs. Cecelia Cephas who is an experienced nurse at the Medical Center has told students to “see patients as themselves” if they wish to be successful in the actual part of the profession.
She also said “The field of nursing isn’t a child’s play” and therefore all people wanting to become successful nurses or physician assistants must be focused and humble.
Mrs. Cephas who has been noted by her colleagues as a humble character has said humility is everything one must seek first as a professional nurse.
She urged every nursing student to maintain what is termed confidentiality when it comes to patient diagnosis and illnesses. “We don’t want our patient’s diagnosis to be discussed in cooked bowl shops and Taxis”; Mrs. Cephas stressed during her deliberation Friday.
Passion to serve is an integral part of the field of the nursing profession, she said standing in front of hundreds of students who attended the Capping and Pinning program of their fellow freshman students at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital lobby.
