Substance and drug abuse is not just a personal struggle—it’s a social crisis that continues to affect the youth across the world, including right here in our communities.

1. Mental and Emotional Health Damage

Drug abuse can trigger or worsen depression, anxiety, and psychosis😭.

It impairs the brain's development, particularly in teenagers, 😩affecting judgment, memory, and self-control😨.

Users often become withdrawn, aggressive😦, or emotionally unstable, damaging relationships with family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧and friends👭.

2. Poor Academic and Work Performance

Young people who use drugs are more likely to drop out of school due to poor concentration, absenteeism, and lack of motivation🗣🤦‍♂️.

This limits their future employment opportunities and increases poverty and dependence on others.

3. Increased Risk of Crime and Violence

Drug abuse is often linked to criminal behavior such as theft, assault, or dealing drugs to support the habit.

Many youths fall victim to or become perpetrators of gender-based violence, especially under the influence.

4. Health Complications and Addiction

Continued use can lead to addiction, a chronic disease that is difficult to recover from.

Physical effects include organ damage, weakened immune system, and increased risk of HIV/AIDS and STIs through shared needles or risky behaviors.

5. Broken Families and Social Isolation

Substance abuse leads to conflicts, mistrust, and broken homes, often forcing young people into isolation.

It can also result in homelessness, as youth may be kicked out or run away due to abuse or neglect.

6. Death and Su***de

Tragically, 😓drug overdose is a growing cause of death among youth.😓

The hopelessness caused by addiction often pushes young people to self-harm or su***de 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) is a serious human rights violation that leaves lasting scars. It is a common problem currently in our country, which basically affects women and children😓😔. It's not just about physical harm, but it causes serious psychological distresses, leaving an individual in misery. It means that it runs deep and affects every dimension of a victim's well-being,leaving them overwhelmed ☹️☹️. Victims of GBV often speak about constant fear, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and PTSD as common.,but let alone when it's an innocent child who can't express their feelings. It becomes very challenging. Some may blame themselves or struggle to trust others.🤔😩Some undergo njuries to chronic pain, which often leads to reproductive health complication. Many survivors withdraw from loved ones or are rejected by their families or communities—especially in cases of sexual violence since Basotho often relate r**e or violence to dress code. For children or young adults, GBV can disrupt schooling, ebe u bona ngoana a se a ts'aba hoea skolong, athe o emeloa tseleng ke mohlekefetsi every day. I affects the performance of this child,or can even drop out ofschool at once. This displays that GBV silences voices😷😷, breaks spirits🤥🤥, and steals futures😠😠but we can fight back by believing survivors, speaking out, and pushing for justice and support services, especially in terms of legal support and implementation of clear policies.

Let's protect everyone from GBV,but women and children in particular😩☹️😔

Grief😰😰😰 is a strong emotional response that happens when you lose something or someone very important to you😪😪😪😪. Most often, you feel grief when someone you love dies😕😕😔. But people can also grieve after losing a job, a relationship, their health, or even a pet❤❤.Grief can bring a mix of emotions like sadness,😢 anger,😟 confusion😒, guilt, 🙃shock😟, fear, or even numbness, which is feeling nothing at all🙌🙌🙌. These feelings can be overwhelming and hard to control, and very disturbing day in and out😑😑😐🤨🤔. Some people cry a lot😭😭😭, while others may not cry at all, depending on the shock or denial rate and the person receiving it🤗. Everyone grieves differently, since people are unique 😶.Grief can cause mental distresses in many ways, such that many people feel deep sadness, which can sometimes turn into depression😱😱. They may feel hopeless, tired all the time, or like life has no meaning, feeling very empty😵😡😠.Grief can make people feel scared about the future, subsequent worry for future so much that e mong a ka bona a sa etsa multitasking on things tse meaningless because a le worried ka future 😔☹️. They might worry more than usual, have panic attacks, or feel scared. It can be hard to concentrate, remember things, or make decisions😮😮😯😯. Some people feel like they are in a mental fog🤒😷😷. People might blame themselves for what happened or regret things they did or didn’t say or do before the loss, bargaining 🤔🤔🤔.Some feel angry at themselves, others, or even at the person who died h**e they were betrayed 😯😯. Others feel angry at life or a higher power, and can even get detached from higher being, thereby experiencing spiritual depression 😎😕😕. Losing someone close can leave a person feeling very alone, even when others are around,so that le ba teng cannot fill the gap of the deceased 😮😥.Grief doesn’t just affect emotions — it can also hurt the body, causing headaches, fatigue, trouble sleeping, stomach issues, weakened immune system.

Happy Majita Monday 💚💚💛💛💛💛💙💚💚

Bo Ntate, appreciate your hard work, but let it not cause mental health issues upon yourself 🤫🤫remember how society constructed men as breadwinners, which legitimately enforce men to act accordingly. However, let it not cause you to abuse women and children. Protect them rather, because a country that abuses children and women cannot have peace😏😥
