🎤 When the Numbers Miss the Narrative: Why Fewer Injuries ≠ Athlete Health
This presentation will challenge the long-standing reliance on injury incidence as the primary measure of prevention success in sport. Using basketball ACL injury data as a point of entry, it will argue that while injury prevention remains essential, true athlete health must be assessed through durability (the capacity to sustain participation with minimal time lost). The Ten Drivers of Durability framework will be introduced as a practical, multidimensional way to capture the physical, psychological, and environmental factors influencing risk. Attendees will leave with a reframed perspective on injury prevention, emphasizing durability as the outcome that truly matters in 2026 and beyond.
