Wonder what I see?
You have perfectly aligned pictures as well as my loupe camera footage 🫶🏻

Patient finished ortho and asked to change an old composite in single central lower incisor.

What I see: wobbly midline, some enamel missing on adjacent incisors, old discolored composite.
What I do: numb, isolate, slowly remove composite with discs + Aquacare.
I find a hipoplastic tooth that was prepped prior restoration. What I see is a super opaque dentine.
I etch, dry, bond.
Start building interproximals first, cover with more chromatic opaque compo the core, mamelons, some opalescence, white opaque effects to blend with surrounding area and enamel layer on top.
Tooth is tiny - I don’t have space to layer too much, but I do my best to blend with super opaque core at the same time toning it down.

Result is a bit too high in value, but looks perfect for patient 🫶🏻

Polarized picture will be helpful to see where tooth is worn and where it isn’t. Here the right central is worn so that dentine is exposed throught all the incisal edge and left central on the other hand is worn just slightly on distal part of incisal edge. We see translucent enamel on polarized pic on the left central - and opaque - non translucent on the right.

Now, to have a nice halo, I have options: 1) increase the length of centrals, laterals, canines, etc by 2mm and have long, protruding teeth without thinking of restricting envelope of function; 2) not to worry about halo and go for single shade - most likely chrmoatic enamel; 3) layer centrals with different techniques - right central gets opalescent composite with a hint of blue + opaque for halo and left one gets opaque for halo only. I go with the latter & add a bit Junior Enamel for Buccal incisal - that gives shape.
Voila!

So tiny toothwear after ortho is fast and … well, fast. Toothwear with odd midline, canted cracline - this is where my brain tickles 😀🫶🏻

Constantly chipping composites was an issue for the patient so she went in for ortho treatment. The rest was solved by addressing function - static & dynamic. This one was quite easy - proper anterior (note that lower incisors were restored as well) & canine guidance 🫶🏻

Two intense and inspiring days in Paris 🇫🇷

Thank you to all the dentists who joined “The One & The Two – Anterior Composite Restorations” course. Your focus, questions, discussions and dedication to improving your craft made this experience truly special.

It was a pleasure to share techniques, work side by side, and see how quickly new skills turn into confident results.

That’s my definition of longevity.

Teenagers don’t need months of dentistry — they need precision, efficiency, and results that will age well.
