🎉 Great news from one of our supported projects!

The Maria Konopnicka Museum in Suwałki has received an Honourable Mention in the prestigious Sybilla 2025 Museum Event of the Year Competition in the category “New and Modernized Permanent Exhibitions”.

The award was granted for the exhibition “Maria. A Song About Home”, presented at the Maria Konopnicka Museum. The distinction was announced during the Winners’ Gala held on 25 May at the Artus Court in Gdańsk.

This recognition places the exhibition among the two best museum exhibitions in Poland in its category – a remarkable achievement and a testament to the high quality of cultural heritage initiatives supported in the Lithuania - Poland border region.

Congratulations to the entire team of the Regional Museum in Suwałki on this well-deserved success! 👏

Building one strong cross-border destination brand 🗺️

Another workshop for the Polish–Lithuanian spa and wellness destinations is behind us. Together with partners from Supraśl, Gołdap, Druskininkai and Birštonas, we are working to create a shared tourism offer for the border region. 🤝

The latest session focused on developing a common brand identity, travel itineraries, and integrated visitor packages that combine experiences across destinations. 🚴🌊

The initiative is implemented under the project “Partnership of Health Resorts for Development.”

Volunteer firefighters from Poland and Lithuania took part in a 3-day medical rescue training, bringing together 60 participants.

During the training, they strengthened skills in CPR and wound treatment, followed by simulations of a mass road accident and environmental rescue operations on water.

The training aimed to further develop rescue competencies, with more sessions planned in both countries.

Activities are implemented under the project “We-SAFE!”.

Would you travel from Poland to Lithuania on this pink train for the Pink Soup Festival?

Vilnius is turning cold beet soup into a full city festival from May 29 to 31. The Pink Soup Train runs between Mockava and Vilnius from May 15 to August 30. Yes, there is even a pink water slide through the city center.

This is all for šaltibarščiai, Lithuania’s cold beetroot soup made with kefir or sour milk, cucumber, eggs, and dill. It is bright pink, served cold, and usually comes with potatoes on the side. A lot of visitors expect it to taste sweet because of the color, but it is actually fresh, tangy, and surprisingly filling.

The train is part of a tourism project by LTG Link and Go Vilnius, with pink walls, tables, ceilings, selfie mirrors, and funny slogans inside the carriage. Travelers from Warsaw, Kraków, and other Polish cities can buy one ticket for the full journey and transfer at the border station in Mockava before continuing on the pink themed train to Vilnius.

Vilnius Pink Soup Fest pulled in more than 90,000 visitors last year, so this is no tiny food fair. There are giant soup tastings, concerts, themed events, and city celebrations happening across the weekend. Honestly, this feels like one of those summer festivals people will either find ridiculous or immediately start searching flights for.
