Another important activity has been completed under the project “Water Is Wealth: Improving Conditions of Water Bodies”

At the Ecological Education Centre in Ełk, the existing Lake Museum has been expanded to include new aquariums featuring representative fish species from Mazurian lakes. Visitors can now explore the richness of local aquatic ecosystems and learn more about the importance of protecting lakes and their biodiversity.

The project focuses on improving the condition of water bodies through environmental education, monitoring, and pro-ecological actions.

The LakesConnect project, implemented with partners from Poland, Lithuania and Latvia under the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, examined the impact of tourism on lake water quality, including microplastics.

Importantly, the project also became a starting point for further activities supported by the Interreg VI-A Lithuania–Poland Programme, such as advanced lake monitoring using innovative technologies, the development of a pilot Water Quality Monitoring System, and an application mapping yacht wastewater discharge points.

These actions demonstrate how complementary support from different Interreg programmes can create synergy and contribute to the protection of shared water resources.

Czesław Miłosz spoke about a multilayered identity shaped by place, culture, stories and everyday experiences, giving the ability to see the world from multiple perspectives at once.

Accepting the Nobel Prize, he also spoke of his homeland – Lithuania – as a small country where different languages and cultures have coexisted for centuries, a land of myths and poetry.

Project "See.Hear.Act"

Kaip jau rašėme anksčiau, Č. Milošas kalbėjo apie daugialypę tapatybę – tą, kuri nesutelpa į vieną kalbą, tautybę ar pasą. Ji formuojasi sluoksniais: per miestą, per girdėtas istorijas, per architektūrą, kasdienius ritualus, kultūrą, net per tai, kas atrodo savaime suprantama ir kasdieniška. Dažnai tik vėliau suprantame, kad visa tai turėjo įtakos mūsų mąstymui, humoro jausmui ar santykiams su aplinkiniais. Ši daugialypė tapatybė suteikia gebėjimą matyti pasaulį iš kelių perspektyvų vienu metu.

Būtent savo tėvynę rašytojas paminėjo ir atsiimdamas Nobelio premiją: „Gera gimti mažame krašte, kuriame gamta atitinka žmogaus mastelį ir kur, amžiams bėgant, sugyveno kartu skirtingos kalbos ir skirtingos kultūros. Kalbu apie Lietuvą – mitų ir poezijos šalį“, - sakė jis.

The project LIMMA – “Lithuania Minor–Masuria: Local Heritage, Transregional Cooperation” will enrich the Folk Architecture Museum in Olsztynek with reconstructed historical farmsteads from the Lithuania Minor region, alongside research, seminars and workshops carried out together with the Lithuanian Ethnographic Museum in Rumšiškės, with results to be made available to the public from 2027.

🚀 Rusza transgraniczny projekt LIMMA – „Mała Litwa – Mazury. Lokalne dziedzictwo – transregionalna współpraca”!

🏛️ Dzięki realizacji przedsięwzięcia Muzeum Budownictwa Ludowego - Park Etnograficzny w Olsztynku wzbogaci się o kopie czterech historycznych zagród z obszaru Małej Litwy – regionu etnograficznego położonego między Zalewem Kurońskim a Puszczą Romnicką, dawniej zamieszkiwanego przez ludność litewską wyznania ewangelickiego.

💶 Na realizację projektu skansen pozyskał blisko 716 tys. euro z Interreg Lithuania-Poland Programme oraz ok. 180 tys. euro z budżetu Samorządu Województwa Warmia i Mazury. Zdrowe życie, czysty zysk

🏗️ Zrekonstruowane obiekty zostaną udostępnione zwiedzającym w 2027 roku, wzbogacając ofertę muzeum i przybliżając dziedzictwo pogranicza kolejnym pokoleniom.

📚 Projekt to nie tylko odbudowa zabytków – obejmuje także badania terenowe nad dziedzictwem kulturowym pogranicza, których efektem będzie raport w trzech językach: polskim, litewskim i angielskim, a także seminaria i warsztaty popularyzujące wspólne dziedzictwo regionów.

🇪🇺🇱🇹🇵🇱 Partnerem Muzeum Budownictwa Ludowego w Olsztynku jest Litewskie Muzeum Etnograficzne w Rumszyszkach, z którym wspólnie realizowana będzie ta międzynarodowa inicjatywa.
