“God and the creation are not separate. It is us who have disconnected ourselves from God and from the world. If we can work on changing our perception of what we think of and see as mundane and what we think of and see as spiritual, we may have a chance at yoga. When we can offer all our activities to God, the higher Self, that which is beyond our own ego, when we bring bhakti, love for God, into our daily life then our life becomes sparkly and magical—certainly not mundane.”

We are so happy to host the amazing Rebecca Munro .munro.yoga from Berlin at JYL!

OPEN CLASS – A *NEW* TRUE YOU (use your pack or drop in)
Who are you becoming as you step into a new year? Which aspects of yourself are ready to be lived more fully?
This special Jivamukti class invites you to connect to your inner transformation: shed old layers, step into your authentic essence, and remember who you are beneath the noise, the roles, and expectations.
Through dynamic movement and a guided meditation on Tarot cards, you’ll explore the energies of renewal, clarity, and self-discovery. Welcome in the New Year as a *new* true you.
What you can expect:
🧘🏽‍♀️a dynamic Jivamukti practice to move stagnant energy, quiet the mind, and create space for healing and growth
✨drawing of Tarot cards on the question: who am I becoming?
📿an extended guided meditation journey on the cards
💫 a sharing circle and closing ritual to integrate the experience
There will be some time to journal your experience, so please bring a notebook and pen.
No prior knowledge or experience of the cards is necessary, just come with an open heart and mind.

The Fool’s Journey – Exploring the Major Arcana
Donation-Based Tarot Workshop

Join Rebecca for a special deep dive into the Major Arcana of the Tarot, also known as the Fool’s Journey. The 22 Major Arcana cards tell a symbolic story of life, mirroring the cycles, challenges, and breakthroughs we encounter on our path.
We’ll walk step by step through the Fool’s Journey, meet archetypes like the High Priestess, the Tower, and the Hanged Man, and explore the lessons they carry for our everyday life. You’ll discover Tarot as a mystical yet accessible tool for self-exploration, storytelling, and awakening your creativity.
This workshop is especially suited if you joined the “A New True You” Jivamukti x Tarot class, but you’re also welcome without any prior experience.
No prior experience of the Tarot necessary.
Please donate according to your own possibilities and appreciation.

“Divine love is pure love. Pure love is love purified from our emotionality, from our needs, and from our need to being needed. Love is the central radiance of our being. It is what shines from our core, from our atman, our consciousness, our soul, outward towards our surface personality.
The bhakta attempts to make the surface personality translucent like a crystal or diamond so that the radiant love at the core of our being can shine out.”

We can’t wait to host our dear friend and amazing teacher Conor Byrnes at JYL this week-end!

Conor will be teaching two Jivamukti Open XL:

FRIDAY 18:30-20:30 &
SATURDAY 10:00-12:00:

Whether you’re a beginner, deciphering the difference between vrksasana (tree) and sirshasana (headstand) or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the Jivamukti Open class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels.
You work at your own pace, following the teacher’s verbal as well as hands-on guidance. Asana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga:
shastra (scripture)
bhakti (devotion)
ahimsa (kindness)
nada (music)
dhyana (meditation)

An Open class presents classical yoga teachings as relevant to one’s life on and off the mat, drawn from the Focus of the Month essay, supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyasa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation and meditation. All Open classes include 14 points—asanas, meditation and spiritual teachings—in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of ragas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane and Mozart.

The class is called “Open” because it is open and suitable to all levels of practitioner. Even so, beginning level students should know that there will not be much detailed “how to do” descriptions; for that a student is advised to attend a Basic or Beginner Vinyasa Class.

Price: 50€ each
Cancellation Policy: 48h with credit back on Mindbody account (no refund).

03/12/2025

Pratyāhāra, the fifth limb of Patanjali’s eight limbs, is commonly described as ‘withdrawal’—to be able to withdraw your mind and senses from the external world. For many this has been interpreted as avoiding, ignoring or denying the senses. This interpretation has contributed to viewing the world in a negative way, as if it was the enemy of spirituality. I think this perspective has limited our consciousness, isolated us from nature, inhibiting spiritual evolution by reinforcing the schism that divides the world into good and bad and separates us from nature. Pratyāhāra, at least from a bhakti yoga perspective, is more inclusive than exclusive. “Bhakti loves senses,” as Shyamdas would say. So, what is pratyāhāra, and how do we practice it and what does it have to do with Yoga—with God realization, and healing our disconnection from nature?
God and the creation are not separate. It is us who have disconnected ourselves from God and from the world. If we can work on changing our perception of what we think of and see as mundane and what we think of and see as spiritual, we may have a chance at yoga. When we can offer all our activities to God, the higher Self, that which is beyond our own ego, when we bring bhakti, love for God, into our daily life then our life becomes sparkly and magical—certainly not mundane.

✨ LINK IN BIO ✨
Dear Friends,
As December arrives, we step into the quiet of winter.
Winter offers a moment for introspection and renewal. In these times, our yoga practice becomes a steady anchor… each time we come to the mat, we are guided to breathe deeply, listen inwardly, and reconnect with a calm, grounded centre.
As the year comes to a close, we can let go of what no longer serves us and open space for clarity, intention, and peace.

This month we are happy to welcome back our dear friend Conor Byrnes from Paris. He will be teaching two Open XL classes on Friday, December 5th, and Saturday, December 6th! Few spots left!

We are also excited to share the Stronger Together! Jivamukti Yoga Retreat in Salento (Italy), from 18th to 25th April 2026, led by Magali Lehners , Schalk Viljoen , Philippa von Heyden .berlin and Candida Vivalda . It is a week-long retreat designed for dedicated practitioners and teachers, combining yoga, meditation, philosophy, pranayama, chanting, and community connection in a peaceful Italian setting. All details are in this newsletter.

And we have more wonderful news for the coming year: in May 2026, we will be welcoming two of the most inspirational teachers we know for a special weekend of study and practice: Gregor Maehle .maehle and Monica Gauci .gauci . Over two days, they will guide sessions on asana, pranayama, as well as Monica’s in-depth exploration of pelvic balance: it is an amazing opportunity to learn directly from two renowned teachers. More information can be found in this newsletter!

And as the festive season approaches, many of you look for gifts that carry a sense of meaning… You can find at the studio gift cards for yoga classes, pieces from our new clothing collection, and other thoughtful items available at the studio.

May this month bring you steadiness, clarity, and renewed inner light!

With warmth and love,
Alexandra, Magali, and the JYL Team
