Union Nationale des Étudiant-e-s du Luxembourg Des Weiteren treten wir für eine laizistische, demokratische und freiheitliche Ordnung ein.

Unsere Ideale:

Langfristig kämpft die UNEL für eine egalitäre Gesellschaft, die auf Solidarität und Gerechtigkeit beruht und in der die individuellen Freiheiten jedes ihrer Mitglieder respektiert werden. In dieser Gesellschaft, sollte die Ausbeutung des Menschen durch den Menschen und die Trennung zwischen „manueller“ und „intellektueller“ Arbeit überwunden sein. Die bereits erkämpften demokratischen Rechte stellen wichtige historische Errungenschaften dar. Die UNEL wird immer auf der Seite derer sein, die diese Rechte verteidigen und neue erkämpfen. Unser Anspruch ist es politisch, jedoch undogmatisch, unabhängig und pluralistisch zu sein. Die UNEL ist politisch, da sie zu Themen, die die ganze Gesellschaft oder Teile von ihr betreffen, Stellung bezieht und durch politisches Engagement der Verwirklichung ihrer Ideale entgegen strebt. Die UNEL ist undogmatisch, da wir immer bereit sein müssen unsere Ideale und deren Umsetzung kritisch zu hinterfragen. Diese Umsetzung geschieht in Kooperation mit verschiedensten Akteuren aber immer in Unabhängigkeit gegenüber diesen. Inhalte und Form der UNEL bestimmen allein deren Mitglieder. Diese setzen sich aus SchülerInnen und Studierenden verschiedener politischer Strömungen zusammen und garantieren somit unsere Pluralität. Unsere Themen:

Es gibt ein Bereich von Kernthemen, welche SchülerInnen und/oder Studierende direkt betreffen und die langfristig Teil unseres Engagements darstellen. Bildung, Arbeit und Partizipation sind dabei drei Grundsäulen der UNEL. Zusätzlich nimmt die UNEL jedoch auch andere Themen auf, die SchülerInnen und/oder Studierenden wichtig sind und diese bewegen. So kann das Engagement für den Frieden und die internationale Solidarität ganze Generationen politisieren und eine Gelegenheit für den Kampf für unsere Ideale außerhalb des Gebiets der Bildung bieten. Drittens gibt es auch noch Themen, die wir für den gesellschaftlichen Fortschritt als wichtig empfinden, die jedoch (noch) nicht andere SchülerInnen und/oder Studierende bewegen. In diesem Fall, nimmt die UNEL eine Rolle der Sensibilisierung und Politisierung ein. Organisation:

Ziel der internen Organisation der UNEL muss es sein demokratisch und egalitär zu funktionieren. Hierarchien sollten es in der Praxis nur da geben, wo sie absolut unabdingbar sind. Die flache Hierarchie, gepaart mit einer transparenten Kommunikation gegenüber Mitgliedern und SympathisantInnen, sollen ein Umfeld entstehen lassen, dass die Mitarbeit und die Teilhabe eines/einer jeden/jeder ermöglicht und fördert.

From September 21st to 25th, UNEL took part in the 50th European Students' Convention in Barcelos, Portugal, organised by the European Students’ Union (ESU) in collaboration with FAIRe 🇵🇹🌍

This edition centred on two essential topics: The future of Erasmus+ and the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), both of which are critical in shaping the future of student mobility, inclusion, and access to quality education across Europe.

UNEL was represented by our two international officers, who actively contributed to discussions, exchanged practices, and brought the voice of Luxembourgish students to the European stage 🎓🗣️

The event was not only a space for learning and collaboration but also a strong reminder of the power of student representation at the European level. We’re proud to be part of this movement pushing for stronger support, better funding, and more opportunities for all students across the continent 💜

📣 Progress for Students! 💥
On Friday, June 13, UNEL and the Student Delegation of the University of Luxembourg met with the Ministry of Higher Education to represent students’ interests, and important steps forward were made.

🟣 Putting student welfare first
The discussion focused on what truly matters: improving student life, housing, mental health support, student spaces, sports, and financial aid. We stressed that every euro students contribute must directly benefit them.

🟣 Faster access to scholarships
We highlighted the urgent need to speed up scholarship distribution, especially for international and low-income students. The message was clear: no student should have to wait six months for essential support.

🟣 Shaping a better campus experience
From greener campuses to student-run spaces and more student job opportunities, we presented ideas aimed at building a more inclusive, vibrant, and supportive university environment.

This meeting marked a step forward in ongoing efforts to put student needs at the heart of decision-making. 💬 Transparency, fairness, and student well-being are now firmly on the agenda.

💪 Through constructive dialogue and strong advocacy, UNEL, working closely with the Student Delegation, is actively shaping policy. Together, we're ensuring that students’ voices are not just heard, but turned into meaningful change!

Last month, our three international officers represented UNEL at the ESU Board Meeting in Banja Luka 🇧🇦, held from May 12th to 18th by the European Students’ Union.

Throughout the week, they worked alongside student representatives from all over Europe, engaging in debates, exchanging ideas, and voting on key resolutions that shape the future of student rights and higher education policy across the continent 🗳️📚🌍.

From workshops to late-night discussions, the energy, collaboration, and shared vision for a better university experience were truly inspiring ✨🔥

A massive thank you to ESU and SURS, the local hosts, for making this powerful gathering possible, and to all the students who continue to show what solidarity looks like in action 🤝💪

Last week, our two international officers represented UNEL at the TOPICS meeting in Vienna 🇦🇹, organized by ÖH – the Austrian National Union of Students.

Across several days of workshops and discussions 🗣, we explored themes like imagining utopias for students and universities 🌍🎓, and unpacking complex topics such as the European Multiannual Financial Framework 💶📊.

A big thank you to ÖH for hosting such a thoughtful and engaging space for exchange and collaboration 🤝✨!

📢 NO to the increase in tuition fees at Uni.lu!

The University of Luxembourg has decided to double tuition fees for students, increasing them from €200 to €400 per semester. This measure reinforces inequalities and puts many students in a difficult situation.

📄 UNEL has sent an open letter to the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, as well as to Uni.lu to denounce this injustice and demand a fairer system.
