Si la CSL et l'UNEL saluent la volonté de renforcer le cadre légal du financement de l’enseignement supérieur et de la recherche pour les doctorants, elles critiquent néanmoins les nouveaux critères de sélection et d’éligibilité des différents bénéficiaires des aides à la formation doctorale, qui excluent ou fragilisent certaines catégories d’étudiants. Sont ainsi exclus les enfants de travailleurs frontaliers.

La question des aides que peuvent obtenir les médecins en formation doit également être éclaircie.

On Wednesday, UNEL had the pleasure of welcoming 🤝

Together with .lu and .uni.lu, we introduced the university campus and shared what it means to study in Luxembourg 🇱🇺, as well as the role of student representation in strengthening communication between all parties 💬.

After a great Q&A session, we enjoyed a walk around campus 🚶‍♂️ and discovered the many activities available to students at Uni.lu. Over lunch and great conversations, we wrapped up a wonderful visit before our new friends continued their journey to Liège.

Thank you again, WONKHE, for taking the time to visit us, it was a pleasure meeting you, and we hope to see you again very soon! 💜

The recent military action by the US in Venezuela must be condemned. An intervention without a UN mandate violates international law and jeopardises a country’s sovereignty. This is a clear sign of US imperialism, which relies on military power and economic oppression instead of dialogue. Any unjust attack on a country must be condemned!

At the same time, one must not relativise Nicolás Maduro’s responsibility. His regime has for years been authoritarian, characterised by repression against the opposition, human rights violations, political prisoners and a massive economic crisis. Corruption and high inflation have destroyed the lives of millions of Venezuelans.

In this escalation, it is once again civilians and students who are suffering, their future becoming even more uncertain. Education, freedom and social security must not be sacrificed to power politics.
We expect the luxembourgish government and the European Union to condemn this attack and to take a clear role, committing to diplomacy, mediation and peace. Democracy and human rights cannot be built through war or force, but only through legitimate, multilateral and peaceful solutions.

At the beginning of this month, from December 1st to 7th, our three international officers represented UNEL at the ESU Board Meeting in Vienna 🇦🇹, organised by the European Students’ Union (ESU) together with ÖH.

Over the course of the week, they collaborated with student delegates from across Europe, taking part in discussions, sharing perspectives, and casting votes on important decisions influencing student rights and higher education policies at a European level 🗳️📚🌍.

Through interactive sessions as well as long evening exchanges, the strong sense of cooperation and common commitment to improving university life was both motivating and inspiring ✨🔥

A massive thank you to .online and , the local organisers, for making this powerful gathering possible, and to all the students who continue to show what solidarity looks like in action 🤝💪

From September 21st to 25th, UNEL took part in the 50th European Students' Convention in Barcelos, Portugal, organised by the European Students’ Union (ESU) in collaboration with FAIRe 🇵🇹🌍

This edition centred on two essential topics: The future of Erasmus+ and the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), both of which are critical in shaping the future of student mobility, inclusion, and access to quality education across Europe.

UNEL was represented by our two international officers, who actively contributed to discussions, exchanged practices, and brought the voice of Luxembourgish students to the European stage 🎓🗣️

The event was not only a space for learning and collaboration but also a strong reminder of the power of student representation at the European level. We’re proud to be part of this movement pushing for stronger support, better funding, and more opportunities for all students across the continent 💜
