CO-SLEEPING

My opinion on co-sleeping.

First of all I would like to make a clear difference between room-sharing and co-sleeping. Room-sharing is when you sleep in the same room with your baby but your baby has his own sleep space, either directly beside your bed or separated. Co-sleeping is when you sleep in the same bed with your baby.

I am for room-sharing but not for co-sleeping. And it is not because I am selfish and do not want to have my baby directly by my side during the whole night. It is because I do care about my baby and I follow official safe sleep guidlines.

Room-sharing is safe, co-sleeping is NOT-SAFE.

But you will probably tell me: how can it be? co-sleeping is natural and it was always done by our ancestors.

Well, yes, it was. But were they also sleeping in hot rooms on a soft mattress with blankets and pillows? Were they also smoking and drinking alcohol?

The newest survey shows that 40% of parents are not co-sleeping safely! 40%! It is a lot!

Please make your choice wisely. I know that for most tired parents co-sleeping is the only alternative to get at least a bit of sleep at night. But it is not safe. If you are tired, it is even more dangerous for your baby!

In stead of co-sleeping, you can think about improving your baby's sleep. Like this all family members will get good healthy sleep they are so much looking for.

Being a parent is not easy. There are some moments when you feel lost, desperate and insecure. You look at other parents and it seems like their life as a parent is so much easier. You might feel like a failure. After 1 more sleepless night you feel exhausted and very vulnerable.

Recently I had a pleasure to work with a family of a 6-months old Manuel. He showed amazing results already on the second night.
Please read about their experience from the first hand.

Dear Elena,
I would like to express so many thanks for your help with the sleep of our 6-months old boy!
During our consultation you explained to us how sleep is important for our child and it gave as such a strong motivation to follow the program. Now when we see the results we feel bad that our child was so overtired for a long time. He is completely new person now, more cheerful, calm and playful.
The progress was quicker than we expected, the first night we had to stay with him for 1 hour, but he went back to sleep by himself and woke up in the morning happy. On the second night we heard him 2 times but it was just for a couple of minutes and then he settled down by himself! It was really amazing!
Naps took longer to improve but Elena reassured us that it is normal and we should give time for our son. Now everything is fine, he takes 2 long naps and goes to sleep without protest!

10 GOLDEN SLEEP TIPS YOU CAN TRY ALREADY TONIGHT!🤲

Dear parents, today I would like to share with you my 10 GOLDEN tips for a good night sleep of your baby! Absolutely for free!

I believe that a lot of families, not the majority, are so close to having their baby to become a perfect sleeper.They are making just a tiny mistake that keeps their baby from sleeping through the night and taking long and restful naps.💤

So here we go. 10 GOLDEN SLEEP TIPS!

1. Dimm the lights in the evening gradually about 1 hour before bedtime. It will give a good signal to your child's body to start producing melatonin, the hormone of sleep.

2. Keep your child's bedroom boring.
Night light, music box and mobile might seem soothing for us, but they can be very distractive for your baby. Children sleep best in a dark room without distractions.

3. Keep evening activities as quiet as possible. Do not try to wear your child out. Evening is such a good time to spend quality time together and connect with each other. Save this time for stories, lullabies and cuddles.

4. Get out with your children during the day as much as possible. Exercise on fresh air and sunshine are the best natural allies when it come to sleep. I go with my children everyday for at least 2 hours. There is no bad weather, there is just not enough good clothes!

5. Establish a nice a soothing bedtime routine. Try to be as predictable as possible. Children do not like unexpected things, especially when it comes to sleep.

6. Check the temperature in your child's bedroom. It should be around 18-20 degrees. If you feel that your child is cold, better give him a thicker sleeping back or a blanket.

7. Use white noise. If you have noisy neighbours the best solution would be to get a white noise machine or use a white noise app on your phone.

8. Put your baby in bed awake. Your baby should fall asleep in the same place where he/she would spend the night.

9. Get rid of the props. Your baby cannot find a pacifier at night at put it back to his/her mouth.

My first daughter was born in 2012 (wow, time flies - she will be 9 this year)💖. As a new parent I tried to grab advice from wherever possible and very soon I was lost. When I was reading Internet forums and other parents described their even worse sleep situations, I was happy that mine is not that horrible🙄.

Well, I didn't need to drive her in the car every time in order to make her sleep. I didn't need to hold her the whole night in my arms. I needed to feed her every couple of hours and rock her. And it looked fine for me🍼.

When my second child was born 3 years later, all sleep problems started from the beginning. Multiple wake ups, night feeds, and early morning wake ups.😓

We were tired. My relationship with my husband started to suffer. I was angry at him that I needed to do all the nights. All our talks were about SLEEP.

When he was 9 months old I accidently found a post of one woman about her success working with a sleep consultant. I was really impressed. But to tell you the truth I was really sceptious. I couldn't believe that in 2 weeks someone could change my child's sleep completely.

There was nothing to loose for us. The situation could now get worse anyway. So we decided to try - and it worked!😴

He started to sleep through the night on his 3rd night! It was unbelievable for us!

I was so impressed with the change that I started to look for an apportunity to become a sleep consultant myself. It was a really lucky moment. Dana Obleman, a person whom I consider to be number 1 among sleep experts, was doing her first personal training in Europe! That was my chance and I took it!

When I think back to the days when I just became a mother, I remember very clearly how overwhelmed I was with all the advice that came from relatives, friends, books and the Internet.

Someone was telling me that I should be happy if my child sleeps less. Gineous children do not sleep much because they are learning all the time.

Some people told me that the only good way for a baby is to co-sleep. But after I read all the official safety recommendations, I immediately forgot this idea.

Sleep and physical activity.

Getting enough sleep is extremely import for all children. Lack of high quality sleep has a huge impact on daily function, energy levels, mood and overal performance of children at school. According to many studies lack of sleep is linked to obesity, diabetes, injuries, poor mental health, attention and behaviour problems.
While poor sleep habits may make a child feel exhausted and unmotivated for physical activity, physical activity may be the answer to improve your child's sleep. Children who do not move enough and do not spend enough time outside, need much longer to fall asleep and wake up earlier in the mornings. Children who spend the whole day playing video games have much more restless sleep than the ones who run outside and do sport activities.

Saturday is swimming time for us. We all enjoy time we spend together in a swimming pool. Swimming, diving, sliding, playing.
Swimming has a lot of benefits both for children and for the adults:
- it helps you to develop muscles and get stronger.
- it helps you to improve coordination and balance. Children who swim regularly, have better coordination outside of the pool.
- if you start swimming early with your baby, he/she will develop water confidence pretty quickly.
- it is benefitional not only for muscles, it is good for heart and lungs, plus it helps the brain to develop.
- swimming can improve your child's sleep pattern. It will not make them sleep through the night, but additional exercise will make them sleepier for sure.
- swimming improves appetite. Please do not forget to take some snacks when you go to the pool. I am sure your little ones would ask for some food after swimming.
- it is simply a good way to spend quality time together. There are no gutgets, no disturbance from outside. Just you and your children. Simply enjoy it!

In 2016 our family undergone a huge transformation. From tired, grumpy and unmotivated people we turned into joyful, curios and energetic family.
Would you like to know how it happened? Our kids learned wonderful sleep skills and the whole family got the rest we needed. And NO, we didn't let our children cry alone in the dark room. We were with them, we supported them very gently, but we allowed them to learn.

My little heroes! Always smiling and happy!
They are the ones who completely changed my life. The biggest change happened in 2016 when I finally realised that being sleep deprived should not be a part of parents' journey. I found a sleep program that completely matched my parenting philosophy (love, care, attachment, being responsive and gentle) and implemented it to my son. The results were so amazing that I could not miss a chance to get the training to become a sleep consultant myself. I got trained by creator Dana Obleman personally and now I am really proud to be a part of an amazing team of sleep sisters!
