Additionally, the prize fund helps student teams present their ideas internationally, gain new experience, and possibly turn them into real products or services.”- Līga Žūka, Director of the RSU Innovation Centre and Head of the EIT Health Centre in Latvia

In collaboration with Rīga Stradiņš University (Rīgas Stradiņa universitāte) and the Health Community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT Health), the Riga iDays health hackathon was held for the first time as part of the PMNET Forum, encouraging students to find solutions to challenges in personalised medicine.

👏At the PMNET Forum 2024, a major milestone in children's healthcare was achieved: The Children's Hospital (Bērnu klīniskā universitātes slimnīca) and the Princess Maxima Center of the Netherlands signed an agreement to establish the Center of Excellence in Precision Medicine in Pediatrics in Latvia.

Supported by the largest research funding ever awarded to a single organization in Latvia through Horizon Europe, this project will revolutionize pediatric healthcare and research. The Center will feature a pediatric biobank, genomics and data analysis units, and a clinical research center, driving new therapies for childhood diseases.

The Center of Excellence is funded with 34 million euros, including 14.4 million from Horizon Europe and 19.6 million from private partner John Martin Tully. This collaboration highlights the vital role of public and private sector partnerships in advancing innovation.
