Freedom61 is a ministry of YWAM Latvia, doing our part to bring hope and light into areas of darkness surrounding sexual exploitation. Started six years ago with prayer walks around Riga with a simple heart to see women freed from exploitation, our ministry is now serving in many spheres stemming from this same desire to see people set free. Freedom61 sees that we are called by God to set the capt

ives free. Our ministry does this through:

-Intentional prayer and worship.
-Reaching out to women on the streets in Riga who are working in prostitution.
-Providing a safe place for women to find health and wholeness as they choose to walk in freedom from addictions.
-Spreading awareness about the realities of sexual exploitation to both those who buy sex and those who are vulnerable to exploitation. Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Last night we hosted our annual Christmas party! What a beautiful night it was. We enjoyed Christmas dinner together and great conversations. We also just did a winter clothes drive, so our ladies were excited about being able to pick out a winter coat and sweater. We are looking forward to what 2023 brings.

We’re so grateful to have regular cafes going again! After a season of waiting and discerning what our next steps are, we anxiously await what is to come in this next season!

Sadarbībā ar programmas Go Beyond dalībniecēm, sociālā projekta ietvaros, tika izveidota prezervatīvu kampaņa, lai informētu seksuālajā ekspluatācijā iesiastītās sievietes par palīdzības iespējām, kā arī mazinātu viņu saslimstību ar seksuāli transmesīvajām slimībām. Kopumā izdalei paredzēti 300 prezervatīvi- 150 izdalīsim mēs un 150 organizācija Dia+Logs, kurus ieguvām sadarbībā ar kompāniju OneTouch.

A campaign was launched in collaboration with GoBeyond participants to inform women about available help and reduce their risk of s*xually transmitted diseases. In total, 300 condoms were obtained in cooperation with the company OneTouch and will be distributed through our outreaches and by the organization DIA + LOGS.

A victim’s story about manipulative human nature and trusting too easily. The story helps to better understand the situations in which the exploited find themselves. The person knows how to convince, trick and do much more to achieve his goals as they have the ability to find the vulnerable and fragile. They have the charm and good communication skills, even though behind that lies selfishness and a lack of empathy.

Stāsts no citas perspektīvas, kura atspoguļo situāciju gan no pakalpojuma pircēja puses, gan no nosacīta līdzcilvēka, kurš bijis daļa no ielu dzīves un pazinis seksuālajai ekspluatācijai pakļautās sievietes. Stāsts liks ikvienam pārdomāt to, vai redzamā puse ir vienīgā pastāvošā, vai sievietes uz ielām ir pelnījušas visas sabiedrības raidīto nosodījumu, kaut arī ik dienu notiek tā saucamā “adekvātā prostitūcija”. This story gives a glance from buyer's perspective and from a perspective of an acquaintance who’s been a part of the life on the streets and who’s familiar with s*xually exploited woman. Story will make everyone think about the situation a bit more in depth, and to contemplate, if woman on the street really do deserve the blame, even though ‘’acceptable prostitution’’ is happening every day. S*x for money, s*x for dinner or anything else. Let’s be aware of our actions and the impact they have, so we can give a helping hand to those, who need it the most.

It is a story about an abandoned, unheard and lonely 13-year old schoolgirl, who got sucked into a 14-year long nightmare of living and earning on the streets. The story is about loneliness, despair, exclusion, pain, an inner fight, and the retrieval of faith- the faith which she carried in her own heart that made away to self acceptance and the dedication to leave the past in its right place. From 21 January till 4 March, a social media charity campaign is organized in cooperation with the “Go Beyond” youth development program. During this time, real stories of people from Latvia who have been affected by s*xual exploitation will be shared, highlighting the seriousness of the problem and the possibilities for improving it.✨
