After coming out of a very difficult relationship, I turned to food for comfort, and my weight increased from my usual 80 kg to 145 kg. With a prosthetic hip and worsening mobility, I knew I needed help — and that I could not continue living that way.

The following morning, I completed my pre-operative tests, and by the afternoon I was in surgery. After the operation, I was carefully monitored in the ICU before being transferred back to my ward once stable.

My hospital experience was excellent. The doctors and nurses were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. Even when English wasn’t perfect, they made sure I fully understood everything. I never once felt unsafe or neglected.

Before discharge, the medical team helped with prescriptions and aftercare instructions. Ilva visited me daily in hospital and continued to check in regularly even after I returned home.

The results have been truly life-changing. In just six months, I have gone from 145 kg to 101 kg (yes — that includes the weight of my braids!). I have moved from wearing size 22 / XXL to size 18 / L, and I now comfortably fit into some size 16 clothes. The pain I once lived with has disappeared. My mobility has improved dramatically. I feel lighter, stronger, and far more confident.

Even now, Ilva continues to follow up, offering gym advice and nutritional guidance. That level of ongoing care speaks volumes.

I often hear from our weight loss surgery patients that they are not 100% sure bariatric surgery will help them but that’s the last try and last option. Because of disappointment so many times - neverending diets, gym sessions, restrictions, tears and fear… nothing has worked.
I have not seen anyone who does not lose weight after bariatric surgery. It just happens. And with the right support and mindset it also lasts. It does indeed! Look at our patients - all out for several years already! 🧡🙏😌

"Just wanted to share a little of my experience ! I had my gastric bypass on 09/01, and everything was amazingly well planned from start to finish. Ilva Urbanoviča truly made everything easy — there was absolutely no stress regarding accommodation, exams, or organization. My mom also traveled with me, and everything was perfectly arranged for her as well, which meant so much to us.
The operation went smoothly, and I woke up with minimal pain. The entire staff was incredibly kind and professional — especially nurse Lo**ta, who was absolutely lovely. I felt safe and cared for at all times. During these past 10 days, I’ve had a bit of pain and discomfort on my left side, but it’s very mild and manageable.
