Disease: COVID-19
🔹 O-Organ involved
- Mild to severe / fatal
- Fever, cough, shortness of breath is the usual presenting symptoms
- Pneumonia, Severe Acute Respiratory Infection
- Some reported case of encephalitis
▪️For health care workers, understand that:
- Case fatality rate:
Mers Cov 34.4%
Sars 9.6%
Covid19 3.4%
- Symptoms:
80% mild symptoms
77 - 98% fever
46 - 82% cough
11 - 52% Myalgia
3 - 31% SOB
Infection in children, less common
- Hospitalised population:
17 - 29% ARDS in hospitalised patient
20 - 30% intensive care
🔹 V-Virus spreads
Person-person:
Droplet transmission
3-6 feet
Respiratory droplets from cough/sneeze
Land in mouth and nose of new person, inhaled in lung
Land onto the Surface
- Contact transmission including surface

Start with ourself, and our love ones, infection control measures
🔹 9-Nine infection control measures
- Cough sneeze ettiques/respiratory hygiene
- Hand hygiene
- Avoid touching nose, mouth, eyes
- Maintain social distancing, 1m/3feet, avoid hand shaking unnecessarily
- Surfaces cleaning
- Get help if unwell,

- Early identification,
- Epidemiological/clinical clues
- Epid clues - travel hx, China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, Iran
- Clinical clues - acute respiratory tract infection
- Close contact with positive Covid19
- PUI
- Isolation
- Enhanced infection control practice
-Trained/primed staff
- Monitoring staff
- Visitor control
- Reduce crowd / unnecessary contact
