When different causes of pigmentation melt, a careful diagnosis is mandatory. Not all types of pigmentation respond to the same technique. Patients should be warned about this issue and a treatment plan should be elaborated accordingly to the clinical and dermoscopic diagnosis and clearly explained to the patient.

Complex severe acne scars management in dark skin in a patient with "normal social life" is a multichallenging condition. Its not only about what you can do or whatever the equipment or skills you have but also about what the patient allows you to perform in term of pain tolerance, social eviction, expectations and cost effectiveness.

I spoke about advance management of tattoos with lasers and the inevitable comparison between Pico and Nanosecond lasers in tattoo removal, wrapping up the debate with a split tattoo study PICO VS NANO in monochromatic dark tattoos.

Only 3 weeks separate these 2 photos taken in exactly the same standards of lighting, colorimetric, angles…
This result was reached after a combined procedure developed by Dr A. Ellouadghiri called the sandwich technique. This technique allows a fast and smooth result in the management of severe, cosmetic-resistant Melasma.

A battle is won for this patient, not the war of Melasma as we need a careful sun protection and maintenance treatment to keep this result.

As the Somaldec 2025 annual meeting comes to a close, I wish to congratulate the SOMALDEC team for this amazing edition filled with commitment, inclusion, innovation and passion. Thanks to the organising committee for the warm welcome.

I had the privilege to share my experience in the management of dark circles with lasers in the Periorbital session, made a contribution in the SOMALDEC ALERT Session sharing laser complications (Yes… with over 15 years of experience in lasers it’s still possible to have complications) and finally have chaired the Scars and wound healing session.
