A very warm welcome to Ginger Lime and Honey, my Ayurvedic Massage and Trigger Point Therapy practice. I created this practice to help you; to restore harmony to your mind, body and spirt and to help you find release from pain. It is my purpose in life as a conduit to infuse you with healing, restorative energy and to surround you with light. To find out more about the practical side of what I do read here:
AUTHENTIC AYURVEDIC MASSAGE
Ayurvedic massage (or “Abhyanga”) is one of the most healing, restorative and rejuvenating
massages available and also one of the oldest forms of Indian massage. It is shown to significantly help to remove toxins in our body and thereby release blocked areas, stimulate the blood flow and encourage the body to heal itself naturally. Just like yoga and meditation, it is often performed daily in India and Sri Lanka as their emphasis is strongly focused on treating existing aliments and diseases first and then secondly preventing further ailments and disease through maintaining optimum health. The medicated oils used in this type of massage are absolutely key in aiding healing and restoring the body to good health, and this is what sets Ayurvedic massage apart from many other regular massages found in spas, for example. I use authentic, therapeutic oils from India and SriLanka and I purchase them myself so I know exactly where and how the oils have been produced. I have many oils made up of different plants, herbs and barks to help treat specific health conditions, for body, mind and spirit. The therapeutic and healing properties of these oils are superb, and for this reason they are used in harmony with traditional Ayurvedic medicines to help naturally heal and strengthen the body. We use a lot of oil in the massage to make sure that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the head and body. The oils are a great source of nutrients for the skin, strengthen the nerve fibres, tone the muscles, calm the entire nervous system and help improve memory. This massage is a full body treatment depending on each clients individual needs. The full massage lasts two hours and you will definitely feel the benefits afterwards, not least with a great nights’ sleep! I tailor my massage to each client’s needs and apply more pressure where it is needed, change oils where necessary to aid with strengthening, relief or healing and I use Trigger Point Therapy if I feel it is required in a certain area. The oils penetrate deeply into the skin, tissues and bones aiding recovery and restoring energy, and continue to do so even after my hands have stopped treating. This combined massage is therefore also excellent for people who regularly do sports. I perform the massage depending on the individual and their needs and requirements. I let my hands and intuition guide me to the areas I feel may need more attention. Sometimes we can release blocked energy there and then, other times it will require more sessions. TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger Point Therapy (TrP) can be added to the Ayurvedic massage if you have any specific problematic areas that require relief from aches or pains, or it can be used as a treatment on its own. TrP therapy involves the release of certain knots or “points” in the muscle tissue that can create blockages or pain. A trigger point is a tight area within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may reduce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense or a dull ache. TrP therapy is specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. In layman terms this means that I apply bearable pressure (measured from 1-10, 10 being the highest level) to specific Trigger Points which will hopefully release them. All you have to do is relax as much as possible and breathe, breathe, breathe. I will keep asking what level of pain you are feeling on each point and apply the pressure accordingly. We only need to treat a trigger point for a few seconds each time. Yes, it can be a bit uncomfortable as you will most likely feel the Trigger Points (they feel like a tiny pea or ropiness or knottiness or soreness (like a tender bruise) under the skin, and some feel more painful than others) but it’s a kind of good, release-type feeling. Afterwards the areas we treated can feel released or sometimes sore, sometimes headaches or slight dizziness can occur but this is all ok and normal as it means we have started the unblocking process and the fluids, including any toxins, are now moving along and are ready to be flushed out of the body. Often with Trigger Points, in order to get full pain or tension release, several sessions are necessary. As you know, natural body healing takes time, it is not always felt instantaneously like conventional medicine. If you have regular Trigger Point Therapy it can naturally manage pain and stress from chronic injuries or conditions. It is highly recommended for athletes too to release areas of pain so the muscles can regain their full performance and capacity. HOW DO I BOOK, WHAT DO I BOOK? I always strongly recommend the full two hours for maximum results and benefit. The time passes very quickly and I can’t stress how beneficial the treatments are to your overall health and well-being. Ideally the treatments should be done on a fairly regular basis to really feel the full benefit of the great results. If you are wishing to release certain areas of pain we would discuss how many recommended sessions to take, ideally spaced no more than a week apart. You may wish to only have an Ayurvedic massage, or you might like to combine it with TrP therapy if you have a problem area/s. The choice is entirely yours. Most people seem to prefer the effects of the combination. I always listen to each client’s requirements and adapt to their needs accordingly. You may book:
90 minutes: EUR 90
120 minutes*: EUR 120 (*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
As I work from home, part-time and have regular clients, I like to take bookings ideally at least a week in advance. Please contact me for more details and available appointment times:
