Like it or not, most of us need to get comfortable with “sales.” Whether you’re in law, consulting, or another professional service, promoting what you do is part of the job. The challenge? Many of us resist the “sales” label — often for all the wrong reasons.

These days, I draw on my background in law, business, and psychology to explore how we can shift our mindset and approach sales in a way that feels authentic, not awkward.

The American Lawyer recently published my article on exactly this. While it’s written with lawyers in mind, the insights apply far beyond legal practice. I'd love to know your thoughts.

Lawyers should no longer see themselves as trading on trust, intellect, and reputation. They’re trading relationships.

When we launched this, we had no idea whether it would take off. But we believed in the idea — and we knew we had to give it a go. Like most things, a little risk (and the occasional failure) is just part of the journey.

Yesterday, we launched The Monaco Business Circle, a pioneering, invitation only forum for business leaders in Monaco. Nothing like this exists in the principality. Despite the Mediterranean rain, we had a full house. Our membership for 2025 is full and we are oversubscribed. I won't lie. I woke up anxious. The entrepreneur in me loves to innovate and break new ground. But the former lawyer and inner critic leads to self-doubt. That was how I felt at 07:00 today! But I'm excited to get to know our members during the course of 2025 and to bring something new to Monaco as we embark on a journey of self-awareness to become great leaders and the best version of ourselves.
