Ace of Swords
Card #32 — July 25, 2021

🗡️ Next came the Ace of Swords. This card represents the potential of mental abilities, intellect, and reason.

It was a bit more challenging for us: we needed to hang a willow on one side and seaweed on the sword (there was a river nearby, and the seaweed worked best) so that they would flourish and hang beautifully, just like in the card.

Since Denis shoots almost blindly every time, it was very difficult for us to capture the shot, and we were literally praying for it to turn out well. And as you can see — it worked!

The Ace of Swords was held by some guy from Ushkuj; I don’t know how his arm didn't fall off because for me, a quick shoot means about 1.5 to 1 hour 😂 And, of course, after an hour of holding the sword, your arm gets tired... But he managed it 💪

Queen of Pentacles
Card #30 — 23.07.21

This card represents a state of abundance and care, highlighting comfort and security brought by the Queen of Pentacles.

Alfiya was still visiting us at the time, and we decided that this was her card. We chose the location based on the throne. Igor found it for us; initially, it was just a wooden piece and turned out to be very heavy. We didn’t have the means to transport it elsewhere, so we filmed where we found it — on the coast of Svetlogorsk. We spent a very long time transforming it into a royal throne. We painted it black and attempted to attach a ton of bas-reliefs that just wouldn’t stay put.

We sewed the costume ourselves and adorned the throne with flowers. For the foreground, we placed some artificial rabbits that we found in our yard. 😅

The Magician
Card #29 — 22.07.21

This card is about ambition, self-belief, and the start of new projects.
We also shot this one in Yantarny. We painted the wall right next to the Nine of Swords in a yellow-orange color. Nastya sewed the costume, and we attached the infinity symbol to the wall. By a fortunate coincidence, the table was already in the room. We had all the suits ready — we laid them out on the table. We placed artificial flowers in front and hung ivy on the wall. That was challenging — it kept falling, and it was tough to create a framed look in the shot.

Interestingly, Arseny has a real sword on the table that belongs to the castle owner — it’s very expensive and beautiful, but unfortunately, it’s not visible in the frame 😅

The Magician was a bit more challenging for us. The first time, we couldn’t quite capture the mood, so we shot it again. But ultimately — everything came together :)

9 of Swords
Card #28 — 22.07.21

This card is about the fears and nightmares that torment us. It’s about how they are mostly imagined and not real. It’s about how, if you look fear in the face, it will dissipate. And then you can move on to the 10 of Swords — letting go of everything old and unnecessary and starting a new life.

We shot this card together with the Magician at the Amber Castle. For this card, we painted the wall black and constructed a wooden pedestal. We decorated it with plaster elements and then painted it first brown and then gold to achieve an antique effect. Igor attached our swords to the wall. Separately, we ordered a quilt, which I later painted with symbols and roses.

Sofia also appeared in this card. Interestingly, she was going through a breakup with her husband and was practically in the state of this card. She couldn’t let go of the relationship due to fear. And I can definitely say that after the shooting, she managed to do so. She became our invaluable employee ❤️
