🚩Traditional Chinese medicine - TCM Podcast

🏳. Advances in nutrition, healthcare, and awareness of healthy living have led to increased life expectancy and lower mortality rates.
🏳. Currently, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea hold the highest life expectancies worldwide, significantly influenced by Chinese cultural practices, particularly in the realm of traditional Chinese medicine, which plays a crucial role in the region’s health and longevity. Cultural habits and dietary choices are deeply rooted in these societies.
Aging is now a universal issue, with countries experiencing both an absolute and relative rise in aging populations. Japan, Spain, and Italy are notable for their rapidly increasing elderly demographics, especially among those aged 80 and above.
🏳. Studies have suggested that a diet low in protein and high in carbohydrates can promote longevity. Research from the Salk Institute found that eating within a shorter timeframe daily can result in health benefits, making a lower-carb, higher-protein diet potentially less advantageous compared to a balanced, moderate carbohydrate diet akin to the Okinawan style.
🏁. Centenarian studies in South-East Asis with high numbers of those living past 100, like Okinawa and parts of Italy, emphasize plant-based diets low in protein and sugars, focusing instead on complex carbohydrates from beans and other plants. Many centenarians consume fewer meals daily, often finishing their evening meals before nightfall.

The tale of the “Lunar New Year”, also referred to as the Spring Festival (春节, Chūnjié), is one of the most well-known legends linked to the Lunar New Year involves the story of Nian (年兽, Nián shòu).
In ancient times, there was a terrifying monster named Nian (which translates to “year” in Chinese). Nian resided in the depths of the sea or in the mountains, emerging once a year on the eve of the Lunar New Year to assault villages. The creature consumed crops, livestock, and even people, particularly children. The villagers lived in constant dread of Nian, seeking refuge in their homes whenever it appeared.
One year, an elderly sage came to the village and revealed that Nian was afraid of three things:
The color red – Nian had a particular fear of vibrant colors, especially red.
Loud noises – The monster was terrified by sounds such as firecrackers and drums.
Fire – Nian was afraid of flames and bright lights.
Determined to defend themselves, the villagers devised a plan. On the following New Year’s Eve, they adorned their doors with red lanterns and red scrolls, set off firecrackers, and ignited, bonfires. When Nian arrived, it was intimidated by the red decorations, resounding noises, and flickering flames. The creature fled and never returned.
From that moment on, the customs of wearing red, lighting firecrackers, and hanging lanterns became integral to the Lunar New Year festivities, believed to attract good luck and repel evil spirits.
The Lunar New Year is also a time for:
- Family reunions: Many travel long distances to gather with loved ones for the New Year’s Eve dinner.
- Giving red envelopes (红包, hóngbāo): These contain money and are bestowed upon children and unmarried adults as a symbol of good fortune.
- House cleaning: This act represents sweeping away misfortune and making space for good luck in the new year.
- Enjoying special dishes: Foods such as dumplings (饺子, jiǎozi) and fish (鱼, yú) are consumed to symbolize prosperity and abundance.

Snake’s 2025 Horoscope (Year of the Snake)
While 2025 is a challenging year for Snakes due to their Ben Ming Nian, lucky stars offer strong opportunities for career and financial growth. Stay focused, take necessary precautions, and balance challenges with joyful events to make the most of the year.
Snakes are sensitive, effective, and adaptable, positive personality traits often complemented by a considerable intelligence. They are usually amiable and even-tempered, showing a cool and calm exterior punctuated by occasional bouts of perfectly-timed energy and passion.

They move elegantly through the social sphere, armed with their wide range of interests and hobbies, which add to their intrigue and mystery. They’re often artistic, which makes them taste-makers others look to for guidance.

In emergencies, Snakes show their true value by remaining calm and collected, not losing an ounce of their ability to analyze the situation and come up with the best solution while remaining a dependable presence.

In daily life, Snake people are easy-going and fascinating for their mystery while also needing alone time to smooth their sensitivities. If they can learn to be vulnerable, Snake will find a new world opening to them.

Snake Strengths
Snakes are self-respecting and steadfast; therefore, external voices won’t shake their resolve. They’re goal-oriented, and while they don’t often appear outwardly passionate, they’re blessed with a keen intuition and ample inspiration, making them very creative.

Indeed, Snake may well choose a career in art because they make connections between subjects. They also possess excellent taste, glide among the elite with elegance, and can remain calm in the most stressful situations.

Snake Weaknesses
Snakes are emotionally detached, which can, at times, manifest as coldness or selfishness. Others distrust them, as they seem to be calculating and only concerned with their own welfare, and Snakes distrust others in return.

With their romantic partners, Snakes may struggle to be vulnerable and will try to protect themselves with their usual detachment—which spells romantic failure and will, unfortunately, reinforce Snakes’ distrust for others in the future.

🔊The Power of Light

📌 Summary

🏮Religions teach us that light was God’s first creation. Even if you don’t believe it, we all learnt that light stimulates life. To have life on the Earth it is necessary to be exposed continuously to the life-giving rays of the Sun.
If we aren’t exposed to Sun, soon the Earth would be transformed into solid block of ice, where life will cease to exist.
It is a Sun or better to say the solar energy which enables life to exist; grass to grow, stimulates herbs and vegetables to flourish, the fruits to ripen, so that man as well as animals may have food to live on.

🏳️‍🌈 Chromotherapy is a method of treatment that uses the visible spectrum (colors) of electromagnetic radiation to cure diseases. It is a centuries-old concept used successfully over the years to cure various diseases.
Solar ray’s spectrum consists at one end of deep infra-red radiations, and on the other ends of deep ultra-violet radiation.

🌈 Rainbow is a great example of solar spectrum. It is caused by the passing of white sunlight through mist or raindrops and broken up into the seven visible colors of the solar spectrum, which are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. The same solar spectrum can be obtained by passing a ray of white sunlight through the refracting surfaces of a glass prism, where it is split up into its components and can be seen as a beautiful band of seven colors if allowed to fall upon a white screen. White sunlight is a combination of seven visible colors as well as other kind of rays which are invisible to the human eye.

⚕️ Bright white full-spectrum light is being used in the treatment of cancers, winter depression, anorexia, bulimia nervosa, insomnia, jetlag, shift working, alcohol and drug dependency, and to reduce overall levels of medication.
Blue light is also used in healing injured tissue and preventing scar tissue, as well as for burns and lung conditions.

⛩ International Sushi Day celebrates this potentially delicious meal and seeks to raise awareness about the truths and fictions surrounding it.

🧧Tracing sushi’s origins leads us on an interesting journey, taking us back to SE Asia and a method of storing and preserving fish for later consumption. Known as Narezushi, fish was stored by being wrapped in salted and fermented rice where it would remain good for months at a time thanks to the fermentation of the rice. Originally the rice was thrown away when it was ready to eat, and only the fish was consumed.

💟 The next stage in the development of sushi would be far more familiar to the modern palate, known as namanare it was made from partly raw fish that was wrapped in fish and consumed before the flavor changed. Sushi had changed from a way to preserve fish to a new form of cuisine. But this wasn’t the last stage in the foods evolution.

📍It was in the Edo Period, between 1600 and 1800AD in Japan, that the traditional form of sushi we know today came to exist. At this point it was unique to Japanese culture and consisted of fish and vegetables wrapped in rice, the rice was mixed with vinegar. This form of sushi had regional variations, but the basic idea is still one of the most popular forms of sushi today.

⛩ Head to your local specialist sushi restaurant and enjoy the delicacies lovingly prepared by a professional sushi chef. When we tell you that some chefs live and breathe sushi – we mean it. It is more than a simple foodstuff to them. Becoming what is known as an itamea of sushi in Japan requires many years of intense training and apprenticeship. After around five years of working with a master itamae, an apprentice sushi chef is given their first important task: preparing the sushi rice. The entire process can take as long as twenty years, so you are pretty much guaranteed excellent food if you go to a sushi bar. How many other professions train for that long?

❣ Why should you celebrate International Sushi Day?

⛩ World No To***co Day is observed around the world every year on 31 May. The annual observance informs the public on the dangers of using to***co, the business practices of to***co companies, what the World Health Organization (WHO) is doing to fight against the use of to***co, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.

😕 The day is further intended to draw attention to the widespread prevalence of to***co use and to negative health effects, which currently lead to more than 8 million deaths each year worldwide, including 1.2 million as the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.[2] The day has been met with both enthusiasm and resistance around the globe from governments, public health organizations, smokers, growers, and the to***co industry.

🗝 For some, WNTD is seen as a challenge to individual freedom of choice or even a culturally acceptable form of discrimination. From ignoring WNTD, to participating in protests or acts of defiance, to bookending the day with extra rounds of pro-to***co advertisements and events, smokers, to***co growers, and the to***co industry have found ways to make their opinions heard.

📍 World No To***co Days have not induced a positive vocal response from the to***co industry. For example, a memo made publicly available through the To***co Archives website was sent out to executives of R. J. Reynolds To***co Company in preparation for the third annual World No To***co Day,[38] which had the theme of "Childhood and Youth Without To***co". The memo includes a warning about the upcoming day, a document that explains the arguments they anticipate the WHO making, and an explanation of how the company should respond to these claims. For example, in response to the anticipated argument that their advertisements target children, the company's response includes arguments that claim their advertisements are targeted towards adults by using adult models, and that advertisements lack the power to influence what people will actually purchase.
