"1-Year Earthquake Commemoration Photo Exhibition & Fundraising Event"
March 28, 2026 | Lan Din Cafe, Chiang Mai
It has nearly been one full year since the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Central Myanmar near the Mandalay and Sagaing regions on March 28, 2025. This disaster claimed over 5,000 lives, injured more than 11,000 people, and left countless families with destroyed homes and livelihoods.
In the months following the quake, families have struggled desperately to rebuild their lives. Compounding this tragedy, the ongoing nationwide conflict has forced over 200,000 additional people to flee their homes, seeking safety as internally displaced persons (IDPs). The people of Central Myanmar are currently bearing the double burden of natural disaster and civil war.
One year later, many survivors still lack adequate assistance. As daily clashes continue in Mandalay and Sagaing, the number of displaced persons grows, and the humanitarian crisis becomes even more dire. While an earthquake lasts only moments, the resulting humanitarian emergency continues to escalate. Yet, through these conflicts and hardships, the people remain resilient.
Emergency Management Committee (EMC) Mandalay is a humanitarian organization formed by local forces in the Mandalay region to respond to these crises. Established in 2023, EMC has been working on the ground to provide earthquake relief and support for those displaced by war.
On March 28, we will host a "Solidarity Event" and photo exhibition at Lan Din Cafe in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Through photographs and documentation, we aim to honor the year-long resilience of the people of Central Myanmar and raise funds for those still fighting to recover.
Event Highlights:
• Photo Exhibition: Reflecting the ground reality of Central Myanmar caught between earthquake and war.
• Panel Discussions: Insightful conversations on the current situation.
• Traditional Food & Crafts: Stalls featuring Myanmar cuisine and handmade goods.
• Fundraising Souvenirs: Exclusive items available for purchase.
• Special Lucky Draw: A chance to win memorabilia signed by a beloved Myanmar celebrity.
100% of all proceeds from this event will be used to support earthquake victims and displaced persons.
We invite you to stand with the people of Central Myanmar, to honor their resilience over this past year, and to contribute to their recovery.
