🔹 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭 – 𝟏𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭 (𝐌/𝐅)
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Lead and supervise day-to-day laboratory operations to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. Ensure all laboratory tests are performed according to approved SOPs, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Monitor turnaround times (TAT) and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and service quality. Review and authorize laboratory results, including critical and abnormal values.
- Supervise, mentor, and support laboratory staff to maintain high technical and professional standards. Prepare duty rosters, assign tasks, and ensure adequate staffing coverage. Conduct on-the-job training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous learning, and ethical practice.
- Implement and monitor internal quality control (IQC) and external quality assurance (EQA) programs. Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, biosafety standards, and infection control policies. Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in response to errors, non-conformities, or audit findings. Support laboratory audits, inspections, and accreditation processes where applicable.
- Oversee laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and validation schedules. Ensure proper use, care, and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and instruments. Manage laboratory inventory, including reagents, consumables, and supplies. Forecast laboratory needs, monitor stock levels, and coordinate procurement to prevent stock-outs and wastage.
- Ensure accurate documentation of laboratory activities, QC records, maintenance logs, and test results. Prepare regular laboratory performance reports (e.g., workload, TAT, reagent usage, quality indicators). Submit required reports to management, clinicians, donors, or regulatory bodies as needed. Support data accuracy in laboratory information systems (LIS) or manual registers.
- Act as the main laboratory focal person for clinicians and clinic management. Provide technical advice on test selection, specimen requirements, and result interpretation. Coordinate with pharmacy, nursing, and administrative teams to ensure smooth patient flow and service integration.
- Enforce laboratory biosafety, waste management, and occupational health protocols. Ensure staff compliance with PPE usage and safe laboratory practices. Uphold patient confidentiality, data protection, and professional ethics at all times. Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
🔎 JOB REQUIREMENT
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent License
- Valid professional license or registration with relevant health authorities.
- Minimum 3–5 years of laboratory experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience in molecular diagnostics or specialized laboratory services is an advantage. Experienced in conducting internal audits and facilitating accreditation for ISO laboratory standards
- Strong leadership and people-management skills. In-depth knowledge of laboratory operations and quality systems. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. High level of accuracy, integrity, and accountability. Good communication and reporting skills. Proficiency in basic computer applications and laboratory information systems.
- Laboratory-based environment May require extended hours or on-call support based on service demands Exposure to biological samples with strict adherence to safety protocols.
