The University of Medical Technology, Yangon is one of the two Medical Technology Universities in Myanmar. There are three major subjects: Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology and Physiotherapy. These are also the six main departments of the university. In Medical Imaging Technology Department, we can learn the imaging techniques using X-rays, ultrasound and magnet. In Medical Laboratory Technology Department, we can learn how to specify the blood group or the types of pathology and many others. In Physiotherapy Department, we can learn how to care and how to train the exercises to patients who are unable to move or perfectly recovery from the stroke. In Prosthetics & Orthotics department, we can learn how to make artifical legs, hands and assisting devices to help people with disability. We need to study different kinds of studies like pathology, gait, materials, etc. to choose or prescribe suitable types of prosthesis and orthosis for individual client. In Medical Engineering Department,we can learn how to maintain and how to give servicing of machines that are usually in diagnosis under studying of Japanese and Myanmar Teachers. In Medical Information Department ,we can learn about the information systems that are
mainly used in Hospitals with international standard. After studying four years in this university, you are qualified to accept the Bachelor of Medical Technology.
