23/12/2025

CHCC’s Environmental Health Disease and Prevention Program (EHDP), with guidance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and support from the WIC Program, has completed inspections in Saipan, Tinian, and Rota for the recalled ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula. No affected products were found on store shelves in the CNMI, and there have been no reported cases locally.

However, parents and caregivers should be aware that ALL batches of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula (cans and Anywhere Packs) are under a voluntary recall due to potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum (botulism), a rare but life-threatening illness. This is especially important for families who may have purchased the product online or outside of the CNMI.

Symptoms of infant botulism may include constipation, poor feeding, loss of head control, and difficulty swallowing or breathing.

What to do: Do not feed children ByHeart Infant Formula. If you have this product, stop using it immediately and dispose of it properly.

As of December 10, 2025, the FDA investigation is ongoing, though reports linked to this outbreak have slowed. We thank our wholesale and food distributors for their continued partnership and cooperation in keeping our community healthy and safe.
