Last week, Our Creative Director Jean-Marc Cafa` shared Studio 18’s journey and work with the EU Commissioner and cabinet for Youth, Culture, Sport and Intergenerational Fairness.
The session did not only showcase our projects and efforts, but explored the intersectionality of the four focus areas, and the power of inner development, connection and co-creation.
In the spirit of working together, Jean-Marc was fortunate to have been joined by two co-creators who have played an important part in the evolution of Studio 18:
👉 Matt Zammit (ProClinic), who shared insights and initiatives related to importance of movement in wellness and learning
👉 Zach Ciappara (FreeHour Malta), who shared key insights into Gen Z trends and workplace realities
Together, we were able to give a snapshot of what Studio 18 is about: connecting ideas and individuals in creativity, education, and business, to help future generations thrive.
It is encouraging to see many stakeholders come to the table to deep-dive into these conversations, and we look forward with excitement to what comes next.

Is the artist–scientist partnership the secret to unlocking real change? 🧠🎨
Science gives us the data. Artists give us the story.
One informs, the other transforms. Together, they can move people from awareness to action.
Yet, collaboration between artists and scientists is still too often treated as a buzzword rather than the key it could be. Without imagination, data struggles to connect. Without evidence, creativity risks being dismissed.
At CoRES, we believe the future lies in bridging these worlds — designing climate responses that speak to both head and heart. Because when science and creativity work in sync, resilience becomes possible.
CoRES is co-funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission (EACEA) under the Culture strand of Creative Europe 2021 – 2027 and the Deputy Ministry of Culture in Cyprus.

🌍 Is the climate crisis really a failure of science, or of imagination?
The data is there. The warnings are clear.
What’s missing is the ability to connect, to move, to inspire action at scale.
That’s where culture comes in.
Because science informs, but art transforms. Together, they activate real change.
Through CoRES, we’re asking the questions that bring culture and creativity to the heart of climate solutions.

Gen Z know exactly what they want from work, and it comes in layers.
1. At the base: essentials like salary, culture, and work-life balance.
2. In the middle: drivers like job security, progression, purpose, and leadership.
3. At the top: enhancers that differentiate but don’t replace the basics.
📊 Understanding these expectations is one thing. Turning them into action is another.
That’s why we’re hosting:

Can you name a climate policy that actually includes culture? 🎭🌍
If not, the question is why. Culture is not decoration. It should be infrastructure. It shapes values. It sparks empathy. It drives behaviour.
Leaving culture out of climate policy means leaving out one of our most powerful tools for change.
Through CoRES, we’re working to shift this narrative, embedding cultural voices, creative practices, and storytelling into climate action where they belong: at the centre.
Because climate policy without culture is incomplete.

A few weeks ago, our team travelled to Sicily to lead a series of team-building workshops for a company retreat 🌿
Using the CliftonStrengths framework, we explored how individuals can lean into their unique talents and how teams can build stronger, more collaborative cultures by recognising and celebrating those strengths.
Because when people know what they bring to the table, teams don’t just function, they thrive.
We’ll soon be opening up spaces for 2026 workshops, designed to help organisations put their people first through creativity, purpose, and practical tools 👀
It’s never too early to start shaping the culture you want to lead.

Culture and climate may seem worlds apart…but they’re not 🌍
From heritage sites to performing arts, the cultural and creative sector is already deeply affected by climate change. Yet, it remains one of the most underrepresented voices in global climate discourse.
That’s why we’re part of CoRES: Creativity, Resilience, Environment, Sustainability. A Creative Europe project uniting partners across Europe to:
- Bring cultural voices into climate conversations
- Identify sector-specific needs and barriers
- Co-design solutions for a just and green transition
Because climate action without culture isn’t just incomplete, it’s a missed opportunity.
This project is co-funded by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission under the Culture strand of Creative Europe 2021 – 2027 and the Deputy Ministry of Culture in Cyprus.

Studio 18 was set up in light of Malta's successful bid to host European Capital of Culture in 2018. Since its inception, the Studio has created work such as #babydaddy and The Brat and That, Limbo and Dear Pete, and performed and collaborated locally and overseas.
The Studio operates in 3 areas:
- training programmes
- performances and projects
- creative learning for schools
Studio 18 activities range from youth projects to individual mentorship, consultancy and services to schools, collaborations with other creative enterprises and ultimately, the Creative Lab.
