May I be peaceful and light in my body and in my mind.

May I be safe and free from accidents.

May I be free from anger, fear and worries.

May I know how to look at myself with the eyes of understanding and love.

May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in myself.

May I learn how to nourish myself with joy each day.

May I be able to live fresh, solid and free.

Mindfulness and Meditation are experiential actions not rational processes. They are hands on and practical. Only can only understand and appreciate them through living them, like summer fruit can only be enjoyed through the act of eating.

This was my aim today - to make the aliveness of mindfulness an experiential process. I enjoyed delivering the session and leading the meditation, but the joyous energy my seashell activity generated in the group was something else.

Laughter, giggles, excited screeches... Adult women taken back to childhood exuberance. An immersion in the moment, meeting life directly through the senses with an immediacy powered by joyful awareness.

They all left smiling, they all left reflecting about the ways they meet life this way already. They all remembered that play and curiosity, time away from the norm, and time for the self are powerful acts of self care.

Thank you Hospice Malta for introducing Mindfulness and Meditation to your valued volunteers.

Current research shows that trauma is much more widespread than we think. While not all trauma leads to PTSD, both what is call trauma with a small -t and Trauma with a capital -T are very real, and lead to many consequences of a physical, emotional and/ or psychological nature.

Trauma doesn't always look like horrific accidents, war, blood and gore. It can also look like neglect, abuse, grief and disappointments.

Healing from trauma is possible and growing enough to accommodate that which has hurt you can be a beautiful and is definitely a very empowering process. If you have experienced trauma, you don't need to suffer alone. Seek the help you need. And don't give up if the first (second or third) therapist you try aren't the right fit. Keep looking until you find someone who can help you from a place of compassion!

A lovely meditation on the swaying of ficus branches in the cool breeze. Mindfulness of breath alongside the soothing play of green against blue. Spaciousness of feeling, of being, a lulling of the soul.

Gut is the body's second brain. So much of our un/happiness, in/stability, and emotional and psychological wellness depends on having a healthy gut with a whole host of healthy bacteria.

“The achievement of psychological maturity is an individual task-and so is increasingly difficult today when man's individuality is threatened by widespread conformity.”
C.G. Jung

I find this quote, shared with me this morning by Rudi JJ, to be so true. Not only psychological maturity is increasingly difficult but also healing, of a psychological or a physical nature both. All healing takes autonomy and ownership, an active participation in the process.

But if you look at our society today, these rights of ownership in one's own process of healing have practically been wrestled away from the individual by our medical processes and system.

Most of the time, the patient cannot express opinions, doesn't have the space for questions and conversations, they must take the pills and be subjugated to an external force working on them rather than with them.

Growing into our own self, taking an autonomous interest in the processes taking place within is, takes us to a more wholesome and holistic way of emotional, psychological and physical health. My grandma always said we must be our own doctor. As a child I did not understand this. As I grow older, I grow into more of her wisdoms, too.

Passionate about Life

I am eager and enthusiastic about all forms of activities which help us live in the NOW. I am a lover of the sea, a snorkeller and a SCUBA diver, and in winter I enjoy trekking and looking for natural materials such as sea shells, sea glass and driftwood which I use to create art, jewellry and house decor. Waking up to living in the NOW has changed my life completely and I believe that sharing this blessing can help others to be more content as well.

I am now in my third year of my mindfulness journey and I feel that by waking up to the NOW I have also woken up to contentment, gratitude and the shared human experience. I no longer feel isolated and I find that there is beauty all around us. My practice has changed my life, it has given me clarity and direction, and I no longer suffer from destination and deferred happiness.

The most profound teachings I have learnt are the simplest:

1. What I foster grows
