You can be yourself if you learn to listen to your heart. To listen to your heart you need to be open, you need to be compassionate, you need to become comfortable with the idea that you deserve to embrace your pain and hold yourself with love and understanding. You need to believe that you deserve to suffer less and to be happier!
Many of us grew up in a society which told us that we shouldn't discuss emotions, shouldn't discuss our pain and instead we should bury it and bottle it up. And look where that's got us! βΊοΈ
But science is now telling us that the shortest and surest route to happiness is through compassion and generosity - self compassion and generosity to self being indispensable to then be able to offer them to others.
How do you learn to listen to your heart, you might be asking? I find that my inner voice found its expression through meditation. Only when I started my daily practice was I able to finally hear myself, and most importantly, it was only then that I allowed myself to start being there for myself.
