Anyone can practise yoga.

You don't need special equipment or clothes just a small amount of space and a strong desire for a healthier, more fulfilled life. The yoga postures or asanas exercise every part of the body, stretching and toning the muscles and joints, the spine and the entire skeletal system, and they work not only on the body's frame but on the internal organs, glands and nerves as well, keeping all systems in radiant health. By releasing physical and mental tension, they also liberate vast resources of energy. The yogic breathing exercises known as pranayama revitalize the body and help to control the mind, leaving you feeling calm and refreshed, while the practise of positive thinking and meditation gives increased clarity, mental power and concentration. Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India many thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world, encompassing body, mind and spirit. The ancient yogis had a profound understanding of man's essential nature and of what he needs to live in harmony with himself and his environment. They perceived the physical body as a vehicle, with the mind as the driver, the soul as man's true identity, and action, emotion and intelligence as the three forces which pull the body-vehicle. In order for there to be integrated development these three forces must be in balance. Taking into account the interrelationship between body and mind, the yogis formulated a unique method for maintaining this balance - a method that combines all the movements you need for physical health with the breathing and meditation techniques that ensure peace of mind. Many people are first drawn to yoga as a way to keep their bodies fit and supple - good to look at and to live in. Others come seeking help or relief for a specific complaint, like tension or backache. Some are merely impelled by a sense that they are not getting as much out of life as they could be. Whatever your reason, yoga can be a tool, an instrument for you - giving you both what you came for, and more. To understand what yoga is all about you need to experience it for yourself. At first glance it seems to be little more than a series of strange physical postures, which keep the body lean and flexible. But in time, anyone who continues with regular practise becomes aware of a subtle change in their approach to life - for, through persistently toning and relaxing the body and stilling the mind, you begin to glimpse a state of inner peace which is your true nature. It is this that constitutes the essence of yoga - this self-realization that we are all seeking, consciously or unconsciously, and towards which we are all gradually evolving. Was just talking about this with a friend this morning to later reading this post, and sharing it here :

🌿Our bodies are books that never stop recording. Beyond the organs, our muscles, glands, and tissues hold stories of silence, grief, and survival.

🔬 Science tells us: fascia (the connective tissue wrapping every muscle and organ) literally stores memory of stress and trauma. Chronic tightness in muscles, shallow breath in the lungs, even thyroid imbalances are linked to unresolved stress responses.

🌌 Esoteric wisdom tells us: each system is a portal. The lungs breathe grief. The thyroid guards the truth of our voice. The intestines mirror what we cannot “digest.” The fascia webs together every unspoken wound until it is felt and released.

✨ Healing happens when awareness meets embodiment. When we stretch, breathe, move, cry, and speak~those old echoes loosen, and energy begins to flow again.

Your body is not betraying you. It’s guiding you back to wholeness.

🌿 Muscles & Joints

Science: Muscles store tension through the autonomic nervous system. Chronic stress leads to “muscle bracing,” where the body unconsciously tightens in anticipation of threat. Joints can suffer inflammation linked to stress hormones (cortisol) and auto-immune responses.
Esoteric: Muscles hold rigidity when we resist change; joints symbolize flexibility in life. Aching joints often mirror stubbornness, fear of forward movement, or unresolved anger.

🌿 Thyroid (Throat Center)

Science: The thyroid regulates metabolism and is highly sensitive to chronic stress. Stress can disrupt thyroid hormones (T3/T4), leading to fatigue, weight changes, and mood shifts. Research also links trauma with higher rates of thyroid dysfunction.
Esoteric: The thyroid is tied to the throat chakra~the center of truth and voice. Imbalance here reflects swallowed words, unexpressed truth, or fear of judgment. Speaking one’s authentic voice can ease this energetic load.

🌿 Intestines (Gut Health)

Science: The gut is called the “second brain” (enteric nervous system). Over 90% of serotonin is produced here. Trauma and anxiety disrupt gut flora, leading to IBS, bloating, or constipation. The body literally “holds on” when it cannot emotionally release.
Esoteric: Intestines mirror our ability to process and release life experiences. Difficulty here symbolizes holding onto the past, clinging to old pains, or fear of letting go. Cleansing rituals, forgiveness practices, and mindful eating can restore flow.

🌿 Lungs

Science: Studies show grief and depression physically weaken lung function, reducing breath capacity. Stress shortens breath, keeping the nervous system in “fight or flight.” Deep breathing restores parasympathetic calm.
Esoteric: The lungs are portals of life force (prana/chi). They carried unexpressed grief and cried tears. Lung healing comes through breathwork, sound (sighs, chanting), and allowing emotions to move through breath instead of holding them in.

🌿 Connective Tissue (Fascia)

Science: Fascia is the thin web~like tissue wrapping every organ, bone, and muscle. Research shows trauma imprints into fascia, creating chronic pain and stiffness. Myofascial release and movement therapies help release stored memories.
Esoteric: Fascia is seen as the soul’s web, binding together physical and emotional memory. Old wounds “stick” here until movement, sound, or touch unwinds them. It reflects the places we feel stuck in life, bound by invisible cords of the past.

🌌 Integration for Your Followers

Our bodies are sacred archives. Science validates what mystics always said: unprocessed emotions crystallize into the flesh. Muscles tighten, glands falter, lungs grow heavy, and connective tissue binds us to stories we’ve not yet released.

Good morning,

Hope you are well on this lovely Sunday Morning.
It s nice to linger in bed if you really feel you need it, But it is also nice to get out of bed a little earlier than the rest of the household and spend an hour for some time in nature, enjoying the stillness, and the morning sun and who knows you might meet an old friend along the way, isn't that wonderful.
Now that the days are brighter, It feels like there is a gentle force pushing, to go out in the open air more. It is a blessing that there are some nice spaces one can go to, to do some training in my village, Here is my moderate activity training for this morning hope to inspire you to start and move your body because it does make you feel better mentally. A brisk walk towards the park (15minutes)
Half an hour of various movements like step ups, skipping, squats, 5 rounds of gentle jogging, twists , lunges, hip rotations , high kicks and deep breaths of rests in between, some sips of water to stay hydrated and another (15minutes) brisk walk back home. While no Yoga asanas were practised here, It is still fun and also variation is good as different movements help to work different muscles that are not being used and become unbalanced.

If you are reading my short writing, I teach a Yoga class every Thursday Każin Banda San Nikola Siġġiewi A.D 1883 at 7:00pm It is a gentle & slow practice . You are are welcome to come & join us.
