This was the first association founded in Malta to provide support to persons with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and their families. The associaiton is also a member of the European Parkinson’s Disease Association and is a registered charity as well as a non profit organisation run by a committee of seven volunteers. The main aims of the assocation are, to give advice and information regarding Parkinson’s Disease to persons with Parkinsons and their carers, to promote and raise awareness of the difficulties faced by people with Parkinsons and their carers and to raise funds for the continuance of these aims and research into finding a cure for this disease carried out in other countries. The association will continue to strive to acheive the best possible care for persons with Parkinson’s in Malta and also to provide emotional and social support to its members. MPDA holds monthly meetings for its' members and topics discussed during meetings range from information and updates about PD to topics and activities which are of general interest to MPDA members.
