| want to still be training 10, 20, 30, 40 years from now. Flexibility to auto-regulate and take things easier when needed is going to support me in doing that.

Sometimes that’s postponing a workout and coming back on a different day.

Sometimes that’s doing the workout but just going through the motions, not progressing anything on, going lighter if needed, adjusting on the day.

Sometimes that’s pushing myself hard, but for fewer sets.

Play the long game. Because it really IS a long game, if we’re lucky 🍀 🙏🏽

Without motivation we wouldn’t get started with much at all.
But relying on motivation is where most people go wrong.
It’s not easy to follow the starvation diet or cleanse or detox.
But for a brief time (7 days, 21 days, 30 days) it’s doable.
Motivation will help you power through…
But eventually your motivation will diminish from a booming flame to a slow burn, at best.
Dampened down, worst and more likely. And at that point you’ll revert to your old habits. What your mind and body knows best.
And if you haven’t spent time creating new, healthy, sustainable habits...you’ll go back to what you did before.
Usually until you “undo” all the progress you just made (and then some), and you get another boost in motivation - sick, tired and disgusted - to give it another try.
Listen.
Don’t get drawn in, to the quick fix or rapid results or 7-day solution.
They rarely work. And almost always do more harm than good.
Take your time. Be patient. This isn’t a race. No need to rush.
Relax. Deep breaths. Give yourself some flexibility. Room to breath and make mistakes.
Because mistakes will happen. And that’s ok. It’s part of the process. By planning to make mistakes along the way, you eliminate the guilt you get when you go off track. And when you eliminate guilt, you eliminate the binges and feelings of failure that keep you from getting back on track.
Listen.
Take it slow. You’ve got all the time in the world. There’s no finish line. No race. Just time.
Take your time. Enjoy it.

You’re human.. The odds of you being perfect 100% of the time are 100% against you.

Let that sink in…

Control what you can control, which is making better choices after you’ve made a bad one.

The only way you fail is by giving up, and you always have 100% control of that.

Couldn’t be prouder of you you took up a brand new sport with enjoyment being your priority. Soon after realizing you are actually a very good runner and maybe could try doing some races. To then getting a coach and actually training with the goal to finish a marathon race no broken. Today it all came to fruition. Not only did you run and finish a marathon, you did it in amazing time. For someone who has no sporting background at all, to come this far….WOW! I’m beyond proud of not just for today but for your dedication and commitment you have shown throughout the months. Onto the next I say 😬💪🏽❤️

The missing piece for a lot of people is the consistency and time piece. Am I wrong?

Stopping and starting won’t get you there. Trying to be perfect or “all or nothing” isn’t working. It’s going to take longer than you think or want so remove that unrealistic timeline. Think in terms of years instead of weeks or months.

Do you see supplements in there? Special food or a fad diet?
NO. It really does come down to just nailing the basics over and over and over. Get really good at them. It needs to be a LIFESTYLE. Not some short term gig. There is no hack to any of this!
