AVAILABILITY OF COOLING CENTRES FOR VULNERABLE INDIVIDUALS

The Ministry has established Day Cooling centres to provide relief to our community. These will be available to support vulnerable individuals with specific medical conditions who lack cooling facilities in their home. These centres will be available in various Care Homes located in St. Paul’s Bay, Bugibba, Mosta, Rabat, Attard, Sliema, St. Julian’s, Fgura, Ghaxaq, Zejtun, Marsascala and Victoria Gozo, with a capacity to assist up to 245 community clients. When these centres reach their maximum capacity of 120 users, additional cooling centres will be opened within Active Ageing Centres in Hamrun, Zurrieq, Mellieha, and Marsascala, accommodating another 160 community clients. Vulnerable individuals will be alerted accordingly so that if they need to attend a cooling facility during the day, they will need to contact the Primary Health Care Call Centre on
21231231.

The Call Centre will assess their needs, and assistance and transportation arrangements to the nearest available cooling centre will be provided.
