🇲🇹 Xi ħut 🐟 fl-ibħra Maltin huma velenużi (𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑢𝑠)*. Dawn jinkludu: t-Traċna, s-Sawt, l-Iskorfna, l-Qawsalla, u l-Boll. *Fil-Malti nużaw it-terminu 'velenużi' kemm għal 𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑢𝑠 u kemm għal 𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑠.
Speċi li huma 𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑢𝑠 (mhux 𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑠) xorta waħda jistgħu jittieklu għax il-velenu (𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑚) jinqered bis-sħana waqt it-tisjir ♨️. Oqgħod attent meta tkun qed tippreparahom.

🇬🇧 Some fish 🐟 in Maltese waters are venomous. These include: Greater & Lesser Weaver, Scorpionfish, Rabbitfish, and Stingray.
Venomous (not poisonous) fish are still edible as the venom breaks down with heat during cooking ♨️. Just take proper care when handling and preparing them.

EDIT: An earlier version of this post included the lionfish, based on two articles published in a leading Maltese newspaper. Following clarification from a marine biologist cited in one of the articles, it has been established that the lionfish has not been identified in Maltese waters yet.
