UPDATE - Chair of British Psychological Society (BPS) , Division of Occupational Psychology (DOP), Julie Freeborn (Left), met with MAWOP President , David Cutajar (Centre) and PRO / Vice President Laura Sue Mallia (Right), during a recent visit in July to discuss cooperation between the BPS DOP and MAWOP as part of MAWOP's networking activities with European Associations to help create a stronger professional pathway for Occupational Psychology in Malta. Details to follow.

Food for thought - should employers apply rigid rules or simply circulate gudielines from work psychologists and other occupational professionals? What about positive benefits - some people enjoy the work flexibility that technology brings and could help relieve stress too. Eg avoiding rush hours and catching up from home ?. Ultimately its how we all individually manage technology and our time and work / life balance surely that may be key whatever we are doing ... not only what we may classify as "work". Please share your thoughts.

Ensure employees do not work long hours – every extra minute could be risky – and engage in constructive criticism, employers are being urged.

An Update from EAWOP Congress 2017 - held at the University College Dublin O'Reilly Building in gorgeous green surroundings. MAWOP president David Cutajar attended the EAWOP Consituents Council meeting and networked on behalf of MAWOP . We are sharing shots of the poster presentations (see https://www.facebook.com/pg/mawopmalta/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1667373383292372)- this gives an idea of the diversity of research in Work and Occupational Psychology is going on.The images (if you enlarge you will be able to read the abstracts) show research from Sports Psychology (one paper on how mobile apps can help athletes stick to training regimes), marital issues and work, gender and leadership and influence of social media on work and even one study from a US University on how resilient people may persist with work projects even with a track history of failure or under performance rather than changing direction or cutting losses and quitting in the hope that eventually things will come good (gamblers ?) . A tip for researchers - Have colourful. easy to read (and camera friendly) posters and visuals and STAY with your poster during networking breaks :-)
