"Côr y Gleision" Walsh Choir visit Malta and Gozo.

The JP2 Cultural Foundation will be hosting a Walsh Choir "Côr y Gleision" as part of the JP2 Memoraial Festival 2026. On Friday 10th April 2026 the choir will perform an openair recital on the Cathedral Steps within the Gozo Citadel at 14.00hrs. While on Saturday 11th April 2026 the choir will be performing another openair recital this time at the Silent City of Mdina starting at 14.30hrs in Bastion Square, following at 15.00hrs just few meters away a religious recital at the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The choir was formed in 2006 as part of the S4C series “Codi Canu”, which aimed to encourage rugby supporters to bring traditional Welsh singing back onto the rugby terraces. Many members had never sung in a choir before, but found the experience so positive that, although “Codi Canu” ended in 2008, the choir continued to grow and develop. It attracted new members and greatly increased its repertoire. The choir now has over 120 members. Choir membership is open to all, regardless of age, gender, religion or ethnicity. There is no requirement of having previously sung in a choir, all we ask is that you can hold a note! The choir enjoys a varied calendar of events from singing at regional and international rugby matches to performing and competing at regional and national choral festivals. The choir also tours every two years, and have enjoyed memorable performances in Spain, Scotland and Belgium to date. In 2018 the choir travelled to Ontario, Canada to sing at the Ontario Welsh festival.
