JP2 Foundation The JP2 Foundation is a foundation in memory of the Pope Saint John Paul II. It is a non-government and non religious organisation.

It has this holding as one of its main objectives in getting together people with diversity in cultural through events.

The JP2 Cultural Foundation will be hosting during this weekend the Woldingham School Choir to perform in four occasions in Malta and Gozo.

The Woldingham School is a leading independent Catholic girls’ school set in 700 acres of beautiful countryside in Surrey, England. Music is central to the life of the school and the whole community regularly gathers to sing as one. Woldingham attracts musical talent from all over the globe and many of the current Music Scholars are also students at the junior departments of leading London conservatoires, including the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. The school holds numerous choirs, orchestras and ensembles who rehearse each week and musical excellence is enabled and celebrated. In March 2024, Woldingham School won the national Pro Corda Chamber Music Competition and the Founders’ Trophy. Summer 2024 results for academic Music were outstanding with 100% of pupils gaining 7-9 at GCSE and a Year 13 pupil gaining an A* at A Level Music and an offer to read Music at Cambridge with an Organ Scholarship. All classroom music lessons are taught by subject specialists, and a team of 20 visiting music teachers made up of some of the finest musicians in London who deliver exceptional one-to-one music lessons in a wide variety of disciplines.

The standard of choral singing at Woldingham is high and every year the choirs perform in Westminster Cathedral as part of the Carol Service. The Chapel Choir has sung Evensong alongside pupils from Eton College in Eton College Chapel and the Chamber Choir has reached the final of the Girls’ School Association Choral Competition. Woldingham School regularly collaborates with, and commissions works by leading composers, including Cecilia McDowall and Errollyn Wallen, Master of the King’s Music.

The Choir will participate in its first recital at the Annunciation of Our Lady & St. Domnic Church in BIRGU (Malta) on Friday 4 July 2025 at 19.00hrs. the second recital will take place at the Our Lady of Fair Havens & St. Dominic Basilica Church in VALLETTA, on Saturday 5th July 2025 at 19.00hrs. On Sunday 5th July 2025 the choir will be animating a High Mass by Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Paul in MDINA at 9.30am to be televised live on TVM2. While the third recital will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Church GHAJNSIELEM (Gozo) On Monday 7th July 2025 at 19.30hrs.

INVITATION
The JP2 Cultural Foundation would like to invite you, your family and friends to attend a recital by an Italian Choir, to perform a concert in four localities in Malta and Gozo.
The “Schola Cantorum Trichianensis” is the main choir of the parish of Trichiana, Region of Veneto, Province of Belluno, North of Italy.
It is composed of a dozen elements, directed by Maestro Federico Cortina and accompanied on the organ by Maestro Sebastiano Sitta.
It offers liturgical service every Sunday and on other major solemnities, both leading the Assembly and performing more demanding music, from Gregorian chant to Renaissance polyphony to embrace a more modern repertoire, to embellish the religious rite and elevate the spirit of believers.
The Schola Trichianensis holds regularly sacred music concerts.The guest choir will be performing during a commemorative recital “IN MEMORIAM” on Thursday 26 June 2025 at St. Paul’s Shipwreck Parish Church in Munxar, starting at 19.3hrs.
The choir will also perform in the following locations in Malta. Friday 27 June 2025 at St. Paul’s Parish Church in Hal Safi, starting at 19.30hrs.
On Saturday 28 June 2025 the choir will perform at St. Augustine Parish Church in Valletta starting at 20.00hrs.
On Sunday 29 June which is the last performance the choir will perform at the Annunciation of Our Lady and Saint Dominic Church Birgu. Starting at 19.30hrs.

The “Schola Cantorum Trichianensis” is the main choir of the parish of Trichiana, Region of Veneto, Province of Belluno, North of Italy, will be performing four concerts in Gozo and Malta in the coming days.
The choir is composed of a dozen elements, directed by Maestro Federico Cortina and accompanied on the organ by Maestro Sebastiano Sitta.
It offers liturgical service every Sunday and on other major solemnities, both leading the Assembly and performing more demanding music, from Gregorian chant to Renaissance polyphony to embrace a more modern repertoire, to embellish the religious rite and elevate the spirit of believers. In this sense, the Schola Trichianensis has also participated in sacred music concerts.

THURSDAY 26 JUNE 2025: St. Paul’s Shipwreck Parish Church ~ MUNXAR GOZO: “IN MEMORIAM” remembrance of His Holiness Pope Francis on his 2nd month of his passing. The concert will start at 19.30hrs.
FRIDAY 27 JUNE 2025: St. Paul’s Parish Church, ĦAL SAFI. The concert will start at 19.30hrs.
SATURDAY 29 JUNE 2025 at St. Augustine Parish Church, VALLETTA. The concert will start at 20.00hrs.

Easter Sunday Concert in Gozo

The attached photos show moments from the Easter Concert held on Sunday 20th April 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Għajnsielem. This concert was made possible with the full support of the following:
The Franciscan Friars Minor, The Ministry for Gozo and Planning, The Directorate of Culture within the same Ministry, the Għajnsielem Local Council, the MTA – Visit Malta, the Grand Hotel, Roża Restaurant ~ Victoria, and Mal-Moll Restaurant ~Ix-Xlendi, as well as the JP2 Cultural Foundation.

This concert hosted the International Soprano from Barcelona Montserrat Marti Caballé, daughter of the renowned Spanish Soprano Montserrat Caballé, known for her duet with Freddie
Mercury. The guest soprano sang several well-known works accompanied by the JP2 Music Ensemble under the direction of Mro Dr John Galea. The concert also featured talented soloists Gozo, soprano Hilda Grima, Roberta Hili, Gannella Muscat, Ruth Portelli and the young tenor Angelo Muscat.

Soprano Montserrat Marti Caballé also known as Montsita, born in 1972, has previously sung with her mother on stage and has also participated in several recordings with her, as well as singing outside her homeland and giving some charity performances.

THE EASTER SUNDAY CONCERT is taking place in Gozo on Sunday 20th April 2025.
An event organised by the Miner Franciscan Fathers assisted by the Cultural Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo, Visit Malta, Għajnsielem Local Council and the JP2 Cultural Foundation.
In this year’s edition the International Spanish Soprano Montserrat Martí Caballé daughter of the famous operatic soprano, Montserrat Caballé, known for her 1987 duet with Freddie Mercury, "Barcelona", later used for the 1992 Olympic Games, is the main guest during this concert.
Montserrat Martí known as Montsita was born on the 15 November 1972, she made her first appearance as a singer in 1993, singing with her mother in London. Following that, the mother and daughter sang together on a few occasions both on stage and on recordings
In her early life Vangelis asked her mother if Martí also sang. It was the first time they sang together, and mother and daughter felt an emotional connection that lasted all their lives.
In 1998, Martí moved to Germany to begin her career as an opera singer. In the same year, she played the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Hamburg State Opera.
Martí has sung in various classical halls and opera houses worldwide, such as Gran Teatre del Liceu, Palau de la Música Catalana and Teatro Real in Spain; Bolshoi Theatre and Mariinsky Theatre in Russia; Deutsche Oper Berlin, Alte Oper, Musikhalle and Oper der Stadt Köln in Germany; Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Musikverein in Vienna; and the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Martí's repertoire includes roles in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, Federico García Lorca’s La casa de Bernarda Alba, Jules Massenet‘s Cléopâtre and La Vierge; Mozart's Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni; and Puccini’s Edgar and Le Villi.
Martí has also collaborated in numerous charity concerts such as Rwanda in 1994 and in Prague for children with disabilities under the Olga Havel Foundation.
The evening will also host local singers, Hilda Grima, Roberta Hili, Gannella Muscat, Ruth Portelli and Angelo Muscat. The JP2 Music Ensemble will be accompanying the singers while Mro. Dr. John Galea will conduct the evening. The Concert will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Għajnsielem, starting at 20.00hrs.
