Our clients spent the day yesterday getting creative with themed crafts, filling the room with colour. 🎨💗 With the help of our carers, they carefully designed and decorated beautiful flowers, enjoying both the process and the cheerful atmosphere it brought. It was a lovely activity that combined fun, focus, and plenty of happiness.

Our clients, at Casa Amalia, recently had a wonderful time baking apple muffins from scratch, with the support of our carers. 🧁🍏

Yesterday we had the pleasure of listening to Eman Camilleri, who shared two beautiful and memorable experiences.

As a young altar boy, Eman had the extraordinary opportunity to spend time at the Vatican and assist Pope Francis during a liturgical celebration. He also spoke about a meaningful visit to Poland, where he walked in the footsteps of St. John Paul II, visiting the place where the late pope was born and raised.

Our clients loved the stories and information that Eman shared, and they were especially happy to have him visit!

Our clients put their artistic skills to work by colouring traditional Maltese tile designs. 🎨 Colouring is a relaxing activity for all - for persons with dementia in particular, the repetitive nature of this activity helps reduce agitation and promotes a sense of peace and focus. It also supports fine motor skills as holding and using colours helps mantain hand strength, coordination and dexterity.

Some fun and friendly competition is always a good idea! Our carers set up a series of games for our clients and everyone joined in with enthusiasm.

We continuously keep our clients' abilities in mind when curating games and activities. Games that are familiar and not overly complex maximise engagement and enjoyment. They help engage memory, attention, and problem-solving skills which in turn support cognitive function. Games also encourage social interaction, especially when an element of healthy competition is thrown in.
