🌟 Practitioner of the Month: Aminatta Bojang – Sports Massage Therapist 🌟

We're thrilled to shine the spotlight on the deeply intuitive and skilled Aminatta Bojang as our Practitioner of the Month here at Gozo Acupuncture Clinic! 💆‍♀️✨

Aminatta’s passion lies in the healing power of touch — combining empathy, intuition, and refined technique to restore balance and support deep healing. With a strong foundation as a personal trainer, she brings an expert understanding of human biomechanics, allowing her to assess and treat the body with precision and purpose.

Her approach to sports massage goes beyond relaxation — incorporating dynamic stretching, focused pressure, proprioceptive techniques, and myofascial release to address chronic tension, restore muscular balance, and optimise functional movement. Whether you're recovering from an injury, training hard, or simply need to reset, Aminatta tailors each session to your unique physical needs.
What sets her apart? 🌿

Her innate ability to physically interpret the body’s signals — tuning into subtle imbalances and responding with highly personalised care. Her hands don’t just work; they listen.

👣 Drawn to the clinic’s integrative and person-centred philosophy, Aminatta feels right at home at Gozo Acupuncture, where collaboration and trust form the foundation of care. She regularly refers clients to our acupuncture team, confident in the power of combining modalities for whole-body wellbeing.

🎯 A professional highlight? Helping a local postal worker overcome chronic work-related muscle pain with a tailored rehab and fitness plan. The result? Restored confidence, better mobility, and a renewed quality of life.

💫 When she’s not in the treatment room, you’ll find Aminatta resistance training, snorkeling in Gozo’s hidden bays, crafting essential oil blends, or wandering the rugged coastlines in search of secret swim spots.

We’re proud to have Aminatta on our team. Her work is thoughtful, effective, and deeply rooted in care — and her presence brings a sense of calm and trust to everyone she treats.

🌊 Favourite Gozo spots? Dwejra Bay, Xwejni Bay & Cable Bay
🦋 Hidden talent? Still a secret…
🎤 Karaoke? Not her vibe — she prefers waves, nature, and deep conversation
📚 Dream dinner guests? Maya Angelou, M. Scott Peck, Robert Monroe

Join us in celebrating Aminatta this month! 🧡

💙 Meet Dr. Cherie Attard – The Heart Behind Gozo Acupuncture 💙

Hi, I’m Dr. Cherie Attard (TCM) 🌿

My journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine began with a deep desire to help people find holistic natural healing solutions.

Chinese Medicine is my way of life, my culture, heritage and the core of my being.

As a teenager I was an assistant martial arts instructor where I had the privilege of watching the transformation of small children’s lives from shy, timid, and bullied young kids into strong confident young adults full of zest of life and with big ambitious dreams.

I was in awe of how martial arts, hard body conditioning and training could transform individual lives not only physically, but make the mind and spirit fit and robust too.

Therefore at university I studied psychology, philosophy and human biology. I became fascinated by the interconnecting influence of the health of the body, mind and spirit. I then further studied Chinese medicine and culture at university both in Australia and in China.

As a new graduate I practiced in general health and musculoskeletal pain clinics for many years and then further undertook post graduate training and work in gynaecology and reproductive health specialisation clinics.

Fast forward 20 years, I am now living on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Gozo. Here I established the Gozo Acupuncture centre to offer evidence-based, holistic care for all General Health conditions. I also have a team of other healthcare therapists working with me to provide best practice patient-centered healthcare.

✨ Why I Love What I Do:
I am honoured to have the opportunity to make a difference to peoples lives. Whether it is to
✔ Alleviate people’s chronic pain, ailments and regain their mobility
✔ Help with chronic digestive ailments, IBS, Crohns, GERD and more
✔ Assist couples achieve their family goals
✔ Transform psychological traumas into empowerment life lessons
✔ To helping people find calmness and balance in a fast-paced world

And many more. I am very grateful for the opportunity to practice what I love and help those in need. I provide a safe, professional, confidential clinic space for all General Health conditions.

❄️✨ Winter Solstice 2024: Embrace Balance with TCM and Acupuncture ✨❄️

The Winter Solstice, celebrated on December 21st, marks the year’s shortest day and the rebirth of light. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), this day holds deep significance, symbolising the transition from the peak of yin energy (darkness, stillness, cold) to the gradual rise of yang energy (light, warmth, activity).

Here’s how TCM helps you align with nature’s rhythms and stay balanced this winter:

🌙 Rest and Reflect
The solstice is the perfect time to slow down, rest, and recharge. TCM encourages taking this opportunity to reflect and prepare for the active energy of spring.

🍲 Warm Your Body with Food
Support your yang energy by eating warming and nourishing foods:

• Soups and stews
• Root vegetables
• Foods like black sesame seeds, walnuts, ginger, and cinnamon

These support kidney health, a key focus in TCM during winter.

🧘‍♀️ Gentle Movement and Mindfulness
Practices like qigong, tai chi, and meditation help maintain the flow of Qi (energy), improve circulation, and promote inner balance.

💆‍♂️ Acupuncture for Seasonal Support
Regular acupuncture can:

• Boost immunity
• Relieve winter-related discomforts
• Improve mood and energy
• Support overall well-being

Don’t forget to keep your body warm, especially your head, back, and feet, to protect your yang energy from the cold.
