My name is Dorota and I am a qualified Massage Therapist, Yoga and Pilates Instructor. I graduated from Physiotherapy at the Academy of Physical Education in 2006, and since then have gained a wealth of experience by working in a number of medical settings, first in Italy and then in Australia. After living abroad for eight years, I returned to Poland, my home country. However, after a couple of months I discovered that something was missing in my professional life.
Whilst searching the net I noticed an advert for Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage training on the island of Gozo in Malta, and without thinking too much, I decided to gift myself the journey into unknown. I had never experienced this type of massage before, but it attracted me so much that everything else lost its importance, including my job at the time. I made decision to reserve a place for this training.
I landed in Malta in very late hours, and arrived on Gozo extremely tired. I was welcomed by my teacher and future best friend Magdalena, who was waiting for me at the ferry terminal. Back then, I felt anxious about new setting and started questioning myself: “Is it a right place for me?”
All my doubts disappeared the next day, when I felt so much at home. The beautiful and transformative 10 days of Lomi Lomi training were so powerful, that I decided to move to the island of Gozo, whose name means “joy”.
Within a month I rented my first apartment and started looking for a job. Wasn’t an easy one for me, but I had trusted deeply that sooner or later things will come to me. In 2 weeks I started to work at Health Retreat Centre. This place was without a doubt very important beginning of my future development. My main goal was to share Hawaiian Lomi Lomi experience with as many people as I could. However, a lot of them were initially skeptical to experience two hours of this opening, cleansing and transformative massage. After a while, I started gaining clients, and very soon, my experience was growing and my practice expanding.
I see every person and their body as sacred, and during the ritual, I feel the energy flow between the giver and receiver, which helps to remove the blockages stacked in our bodies; physical, and emotional.
During this beautiful ceremony, I had different visions, which were related to my past, present and future. I felt like my heart was opening more and more.
I started to attend different gatherings, circles and retreats. Thanks to that, I could understand more about myself. Nature started to be my second home, and the connection with Mother Earth became stronger and deeper.
Finally, I decided to fly to Peru, to Sacred Valley, to home of native Quechuas. I experienced the sacred medicine, women circles, and a small part of the Quechuas knowledge. The time spent in Peru, was so powerful, that within one month I came to see what I had been holding on to for years. I had to let go of all those layers, that kept my heart from being truly open.
I have never cried so much in my life. Over there, I surrendered completely, and could sense the beauty of emptiness. I worked very hard to accept myself fully, to grow in self-respect, and genuine self-love, rather than judging myself. All of this I brought back within my heart to Gozo, where I continued the journey into myself.
After 6 months of practicing how to let go of the old patterns, my intuition brought me to India, to the land where the idea of creating Pachamama Studio begun.
However, India didn’t show me how to respect Mother Earth. It was absolutely opposite to Peru, where people showed me so strong connection of honoring the beauty of the goddess Pachamama.
India became challenging for me, not only because I was travelling on my own, also because I couldn’t understand the way of treating our Mother Earth by the local people without any respect or love. I caught myself being judgmental, and started questioning my Hindu friends about the situation. Thanks to them, I understood why this was happening, and started being more open to learn.
During my stay, I finished a Yoga Training Course, and realized once again the importance of our physical body. I learned how to meditate, and how to enjoy the silence and peace within.
After returning to Gozo from my trip to India, I was filled with new ideas and was determined to put the vision into life and share my love, gratitude, and life experiences with others. This was when Pachamama Studio came into life. It is now open to anyone who would like to sample some of the bliss, tranquility, joy, love and acceptance, that I found thanks to my travels, and an endless inner journey.
Blessings to everyone
