How can my chipped tooth be fixed?
Depending on the severity of the chip, there are a number of options.
A dental filling is good for small chips.
Porcelain veneers would be used to cover purely
cosmetic chips.

Chips on the Edges of Front Teeth

Another area where people tend to need fillings on the front of a tooth is when there is a chip of the biting edge of the tooth. In these situations, we can also use white filing materials to restore these teeth. However, because we use the edges of the front teeth extensively in our natural chewing process, we advise our patients who have fillings on the tooth edges to be careful when biting into very hard foods. And if the chip is extensive, it might be necessary to prepare the tooth for a crown, because a bonding (white filling) can’t hold well to the tooth if there is too much natural tooth structure missing.

A post and core is dental restoration that is used when there is inadequate tooth structure remaining to support a traditional restoration. A small rod, usually metal, is inserted into the root space (root canal) of the tooth and protrudes from the root a couple of millimeters. This rod is referred to as a post. The post is then used to hold a filling, or core, in place. Without this post there would not have been enough tooth structure remaining to hold the filling required. Most often, this procedure is used after a tooth has had a root canal and is in need of a crown. See less
