When Benoît Chevalier was in Mauritius recently, he joined a discussion with IBL leadership team around his book “Ce qu’attend l’Afrique, ressources locales, tensions mondiales”.

He shared a perspective shaped by 20+ years across the continent: each African market has its own trajectory, and long-term growth will depend less on external narratives than on local value creation, industrialisation, and ex*****on.

On the panel alongside Benoît were Preetee Jhamna, IBL's CFO Group Operations, and Yannis Fayd’herbe, COO of IBL's logistics activities, who work across multiple markets and see first-hand the opportunities, the trade-offs, and the need to adapt constantly.

For us at IBL, that’s exactly the balance we’re trying to strike as we invest, partner, and work across the region.

Not all journeys follow the expected path.

For Guillaume Alcindor, it meant leaving behind 12 years of office life to step into a completely new environment — one that challenged him, shaped him, and revealed strengths he didn’t know he had.

Today, in the control room at Cervonic, he navigates complexity with calm and precision, finding meaning in every challenge solved and every system running smoothly again.

Progress isn’t always about big leaps. Sometimes, it’s about showing up, learning every day, and moving forward; step by step.

They call him Master. A nickname earned over time, through discipline, consistency and respect.

Henri Lamplatre arrived at the Mauritius Freeport in 2007 as a young stevedore, learning fast in a demanding, all-male environment. The dream of joining the police force faded, but the port became his calling.

Today, at 40, he wears the white uniform of a foreman and leads a team of about thirty people across quays 1 to 7. His day starts at 6:30 a.m. with a cup of tea in the mess before heading out at 7 a.m., where forklifts weave in tight patterns, crates of frozen tuna pile up, and conversations in multiple languages set the rhythm of the docks.

No two days are ever the same. Henri leads with clarity, discipline and trust. His team respects him, and captains recognise him as they return to port. He passes on the basics to the younger ones – autonomy, rigour and the value of working together.

By 4 p.m., the schedule is delivered. Henri heads home to his family or fits in a short run before the evening, ready to do it all again the next day.

What does spending more than three decades at IBL feel like?

It’s being part of a company that grows and growing alongside it. It’s celebrating milestones together, navigating challenges, and building lasting friendships.

In this video, six of our colleagues reflect on the experiences and moments, big and small, that have shaped their journey at IBL.

Their stories are a reminder that our growth, our culture, and our success are shaped by the people who show up every day with passion, talent, and heart.

Building a regional group doesn’t happen by itself. It takes time, intention, and real connections.

We recently brought our senior teams from IBL's East Africa businesses together in Nairobi. For many, it was their first time meeting in person. What started as introductions quickly turned into open, practical conversations.

This is how collaboration actually happens - by building trust, sharing perspectives, and connecting people across markets.

As we continue to grow in the region, these connections matter. They help us make better decisions, move faster, and operate more coherently as a Group.

To mark Mauritius’ Independence Day, colleagues across IBL came together for the traditional flag raising.

But this year, we also welcomed members of the Asosiasion Pratikan Sega Tipik who shared the story behind this tradition, the instruments that shape its sound, and the place it holds in Mauritian culture. There was a short film, an exhibition, a mini concert and even the chance for colleagues to try the ravanne themselves and take an instrument home!

Sega Tipik isn’t something you come across every day anymore in Mauritius. Taking a moment to experience it together felt like a small but meaningful way to keep these traditions alive.

Our island’s story is one of resilience, diversity and constant reinvention - driven by the energy and talent of its people.

At IBL, we are proud of our Mauritian roots and of the role we continue to play - alongside so many others - in shaping the country’s economic and social future.

A day of cross-border collaboration and shared ambition. That’s what defined our latest CFO Forum.

Led by Cédrik Le Juge, Group CFO, the forum brought together teams from our local and regional operations to exchange insights, challenge perspectives and strengthen synergies.

Through discussions on reporting, audit, and governance, they explored how combining international standards with local perspectives can bring best practices to every business and create value for all stakeholders.

When expertise is shared and perspectives align, the Group moves forward, together.
