Come the end of the year and we all get into that festive mood in heightened spirit. Despite the seemingly difficult times being felt at many levels, we find ways to soothe the distress and engage in merry making, akin to unwinding after a hard day’s work, but on a macro time scale. The new year threshold, however is also a perfect opportunity to usher forth , which is basically taking time to think about your own thoughts; questioning one’s own mental processes and taking time to clarify one’s values. Doing so, sets forth an opportunity to grow, develop and enhance one’s ability to understand oneself and one’s motivations. It is however important to get in to the process in a systematic manner.

Here are 10 questions (Woronko, n.d) that might set you off with the process 🙂 Give it a shot, find some time (ideally, ASAP) and explore, grow, develop and find your flow. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2025!!

1. Am I using my time wisely?
2. Am I taking anything for granted?
3. Am I employing a healthy perspective?
4. Am I living true to myself?
5. Am I waking up in the morning ready to take on the day?
6. Am I thinking negative thoughts before I fall asleep?
7. Am I putting enough effort into my relationships?
8. Am I taking care of myself physically?
9. Am l letting matters that are out of my control stress me out?
10. Am I achieving the goals that I’ve set for myself?

musings.
'There is no health without mental health' goes the famous quote. Do we realise the implications though? How do we gauge our mental health? Have we been taught (and are we learning) to observe our emotions, to observe our reactions to stressful events, or simply to know when one is not well and how to reverse the situation? Mental health is not as straight forward as having a migraine and taking tablets to alleviate the symptoms. To be mentally healthy, to enjoy mental well-being, requires a desire to know oneself and one's functioning, which is not as difficult as it looks. Are you ready to do that? 🙂
