• Was machst du denn da? (= interessiertes Nachfragen)________________________________________
4. In Redewendungen
• Na denn! (= Also gut! / Okay, los geht’s.)
• Was denn noch? (= Was außerdem?)________________________________________
🔑 Merksatz:

1. As a conjunction (reason / because)
Used like “because” to explain a reason.
👉 Example:
= I’m staying home today because it’s raining.________________________________________
2. As a softener in questions
“Denn” doesn’t add real meaning here — it makes a question sound friendlier, more curious, or less harsh.
👉 Example:
• Wie geht es dir denn?
= So, how are you then? (friendly tone)
• Was machst du denn da?
= What are you doing there (then)? (curious tone)
________________________________________3. Not to confuse with “dann”
• denn = gives a reason (because) or softens a question.
• dann = means then (time or consequence).
👉 Example:
= I’m not going to the cinema because I’m tired.
= If I’m tired, then I don’t go to the cinema.
________________________________________4. In expressions
• Na denn! = Alright then! / Okay, let’s go!
• Was denn noch? = What else then?________________________________________
🔑 Key takeaway:
• “denn” = because / softener in questions.
• Never a time word — that’s “dann” (then).

🏃♂️ Akkusativ = Bewegung / Wohin?
Frage: Wo?
Beispiele:
• Ich bin in der Küche.
• Das Buch liegt auf dem Tisch.
➡️ Wo ist es? – Keine Bewegung ➝ Dativ
