Keraleeyam @ 2025 — A Celebration of Culture, Community & Friendship
One of the biggest Indian diaspora event in recent times, the Kereleeyam@25 led by Mr. Manoj Nair in association with High Commission of India in Maldives and the Indian Cultural Centre began with an inspiring address by His Excellency Shri G. Balasubramanian, High Commissioner of India to Maldives on November 7, 2025. He lauded the contribution of the Indian diaspora, addressed recent remittance concerns, and emphasised how cultural events bring communities together, fostering unity and a shared sense of belonging and congratulated Keraleeyam for their die hard dedication and passion in bringing an idea to fruition.
HE also highlighted two historic milestones:
🇮🇳 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and Maldives
🇮🇳 150 years of India’s national song — “Vande Mataram”
He invited the entire audience to join the ICC music teacher and chorus in singing Vande Mataram, turning the hall into a moving chorus of unity and pride, a truly memorable moment of connection.
Members of the Indian diaspora, including children, and other community groups presented vibrant performances coordinated by Keraleeyam, adding colour and energy to the evening.
On behalf of the High Commission of India in Maldives, Director ICC, Ms. Manjistha Mukherjee was honoured to introduce veteran artistes and teachers of the Indian Cultural Centre, before ICC presented their Indo–Maldivian fusion music and dance segments, a tribute to the enduring friendship between India and Maldives. The ICC team brought together years of training, passion, and expertise to share the richness of Indian and Maldivian performing arts.
Music Collaboration featured ICC’s Hindustani classical vocalist & tabla teacher, Mr. Aamir Hussain and the award winning Detune Band from Maldives, led by Ms. Fezleen (Fezu). Dance collaboration brought together Ms. Anukriti Vishwakarma, Kathak artiste & ICC dance teacher, and Ms. Nuha Naseer, renowned Maldivian dance educator.
The evening concluded with popular singers from South India invited by Kereleeyam, Ms. Lakshmi Jayan and Mr. Anu Praveen, who had the audience singing, dancing, and swaying along.
Over a thousand guests enjoyed a traditional Kerala meal served on banana leaves, rounding off a night of culture, friendship, and joy.
