The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) on Saturday (21st March) donated K300 million towards the 2025/26 Lean Season and Emergency Response Programmes.

Speaking in Mangochi during a symbolic cheque presentation ceremony, MAGLA Board Chairperson Proud Chalira said the donation is a response to President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika's appeal for financial and in-kind support following the declaration of a state of disaster due to prolonged dry-spells induced food insecurity.

On his part, the Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr. Justin Saidi described the donation as a timely and generous gesture.

Through DoDMA and various humanitarian partners, the Malawi Government is providing relief assistance to 4 million food insecure people and over 21,000 households affected by recent heavy rains and floods.

Today, we pause to honour the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for Malawi’s freedom. 🇲🇼

Their courage, resilience, and patriotism continue to inspire us to build a stronger, united nation.

As we commemorate Martyrs’ Day, let us remember that freedom comes with responsibility — in all that we do.

Happy Martyrs’ Day.

The Malawi Gaming & Lotteries Authority (MAGLA), in partnership with the South West Region Police, continues to champion responsible gambling across the region.

So far, the campaign has successfully been conducted in Blantyre and Neno, reaching out to communities with vital messages on: ✔️ Knowing your limits
