Fifty-one pastors have started a three-year Diploma in Theology offered by World Hope Bible Institute in partnership with Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi (Beit-CURE). The course is designed to build biblical knowledge and practical ministry skills.

The programme combines remote learning with in-person sessions held three times a year at Beit-CURE. It includes 16 modules, such as Bible Interpretation and the Doctrine of Salvation.

The first cohort is made up mainly of pastors from Blantyre, with two Beit-CURE staff members also enrolled.

Classes began on 29 April 2026.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT: BOWED LEGS

Bowed Legs is a condition in which the legs bend outward around or below the knees, even when the ankles are together.

It happens when the growth plate on the inside of the knee slows down or stops making new bone, while the outer side continues to grow normally, giving the legs a bowed appearance.

Bowed legs can be a normal part of development, especially around the age of two. In some children, the condition may worsen or appear later in childhood. Factors such as nutrition, overall health, and vitamin D deficiency can also play a role.

At Beit CURE International Hospital, Malawi, we treat children with bowed legs through corrective surgery and rehabilitation to improve alignment and support normal movement.

Early treatment makes a difference.

If your child is between 0 and 18 years old, or you know someone with this condition, please share this post.

At Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi, we are committed to training the next generation of medical professionals from Malawi and around the world.

From late February to early April 2026, we hosted medical student Ella Spence from Cardiff University for a six-week clinical rotation.

Ella observed orthopaedic procedures and took part in the physiotherapy team’s clubfoot clinics, assisting with casting for children and examining patients during brace reviews.

We offer opportunities like this as part of our ongoing investment in practical training for future healthcare professionals.

Safe, high-quality meals are essential to our patients' recovery. That is why, at Beit-CURE Children’s Hospital of Malawi, we are committed to maintaining strong food safety and hygiene standards.

We are happy to share that our kitchen has been certified by the Malawi Bureau of Standards, having met key requirements in food safety, hygiene, quality assurance, and legal compliance.

This certification reflects how food is handled in our kitchen, from hygiene during preparation to safe storage and strict staff sanitation to reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

It also reflects the consistency of our meals, with clear standards that maintain the quality of what we serve.

The certification further confirms that our kitchen meets all legal requirements for providing catering services.

Nutrition remains a key part of recovery, and every meal we serve supports that process.

Children with disabilities are often stared at in public, making them aware from a young age that they are seen differently.

But on the evening of February 20, 2026, that story changed. CURE Malawi hosted a prom-style celebration where children with disabilities were seen, celebrated, and honoured.

Today, we spotlight Harriet Meja, a member of our nursing team at Beit-CURE Children's Hospital of Malawi. She prepares and cares for patients before and after surgery, supporting them through recovery until they regain independence and heal fully.

She trained at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (formerly Kamuzu College of Nursing) and also has a background in Clinical Psychology, which allows her to provide counseling and support to patients and guardians as they prepare for surgery and adjust afterward.

When asked what motivates her to continue doing this work every day, Harriet says, “One life at a time—if I can help just one person get better, then I’ve lived out my calling. That’s what drives me.”

Outside of work, she enjoys music and football.

We thank Harriet for her compassion and commitment to patient care.
