SAFETY RULES IN THE LABORATORY
ï‚· Do not drink, taste nor eat anything in the laboratory. Any chemical is never tasted in the
laboratory but can be tested.
ï‚· Handle all materials in the laboratory carefully. Glassware must be held with both hands.
ï‚· Never run or play in the laboratory.
ï‚· Wear protective materials such as lab coat, an apron, and safety goggles.
ï‚· Never work in the laboratory barefooted.
ï‚· Avoid disturbing or pushing a colleague who is busy working in the laboratory.
ï‚· Clean all equipment and workplaces after each laboratory period.
ï‚· Tie up long hair and avoid wearing loose clothing which could be caught in equipment.
ï‚· Follow experimental procedures and do not take short cuts.
ï‚· Avoid carrying out any other experiments other than the one given by the teacher.
ï‚· Turn off water, gas and electricity outlets when not in use.
ï‚· Keep flame and flammable solutions apart.
ï‚· Keep electrical equipment away from water and keep areas around electrical equipment dry.
ï‚· Always clean glassware before using them.
ï‚· Always work in a well ventilated area
