National AIDS Commission (NAC) has dismissed reports suggesting that UNAIDS is planning to relocate its Malawi country office to Zimbabwe.

NAC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Beatrice Matanje, said they have engaged UNAIDS Executive Director, Winnie Byanyima, who reaffirmed the agency’s unwavering commitment to support Malawi’s goal of ending HIV and AIDS by 2030.

UNAIDS, which began operating in Malawi in 1996, has since played a key role in coordinating and strengthening the national HIV response.

Identical Twins Graduate Together from UNIMA, Both with Credit

On 29th August 2025, Takondwa and Tayamika Tanganyika, identical twins whose lives have been inseparable since birth, walked across the stage at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) to receive their degrees, Takondwa in Public Administration and Tayamika in Economics. Their journey, marked by resilience, determination, and unbreakable sibling bonds, is a story of triumph against the odds.

The twins' educational journey began at Likuni Girls Primary School, where their curiosity and intelligence set them apart. From the very start, they shared classrooms, lessons, and dreams, encouraging each other to aim higher. Their path continued at Ludzi Girls Catholic Secondary School, where the sisters' dedication to their studies earned them respect and admiration from teachers and peers alike. Even when life demanded more from them, the twins leaned on each other, turning challenges into opportunities.

Being raised by a single mother was their biggest challenge. Their mother, a pillar of strength and sacrifice, worked tirelessly to provide for the family. Every late night she spent cooking or sewing was an unspoken lesson in perseverance. The twins often recall the times when resources were scarce, but the lessons in resilience and hard work were abundant. Those experiences shaped not only their academic discipline but also their unwavering determination to make their mother proud.

Their selection to study at the University of Malawi - UNIMA was a dream come true, and they approached university life with the same tenacity they had shown in their earlier education. From lectures to exams, projects to group work, Takondwa and Tayamika supported one another every step of the way. On graduation day, as they stood side by side in their gowns, the moment was not just about academic achievement, it was a celebration of shared sacrifices, enduring love, and a testament to the power of unity.

Takondwa and Tayamika Tanganyika's story is an inspiring journey of two twin sisters raised by a single mother, turned every obstacle into a stepping stone, and emerged as graduates with Credit.

Congratulations Twins👏
