SYMPTOMS:
1. There may be no symptoms for prostate cancer (asymptomatic) however many people may experience the following:
2. Frequent, sometimes urgent, need to p*e, especially at night.
3. Weak urine flow or flow that starts and stops.
4. Pain or burning when you p*e (dysuria).
5. Loss of bladder control (urinary incontinence).
4. Loss of bowel control (f***l incontinence).
5. Sudden erectile dysfunction.
7.Blood in urine or semen.
Late symptoms may include Backpains and weakness or paralysis of the lower extremities etc
CAUSES OF PROSTATE CANCER:
The actual cause of prostate enlargement is unknown.
Factors linked to aging and changes in the cells of the prostate may have a role in the growth of the gland, as well as testosterone levels.
RISK FACTORS:
Being male.
Being Black/ Hispanic race.
Family history of prostate or breast cancer
SCREENING:
1. PSA ( Prostate specific antigen Test) .
Elevated blood PSA levels MAY point towards prostate cancer.
2. Digital re**al examination for Prostate gland. The examining finger may feel for signs of prostate cancer.
3. Other screening methods include Ultrasound scanning, CT scan etc.
TREATMENT:
With early diagnosis and treatment, prostate cancer is often highly curable. Many people diagnosed when the cancer hasn't spread beyond their prostate go on to live normal, cancer-free lives for several years following treatment.
DISEASE AGGRESSION:
If you're Black or you have a close relative with prostate cancer, they jump up at age 40.
About two-thirds of all prostate cancers are diagnosed in men aged 65 and older. But the older you are, the less aggressive the disease is, especially after age 70.
